There is only one "con": less freedom for liberasts (liberals and pederasts).

Everyone assumes a dictator would be evil. It wouldn't necessarily have to be that way, although anything else does seem the exception.

Pros -- No beauracracy, instant implementation of solutions, no need for anyone to think about where to go, one person will decide it. No time wasted on media campaigns. No false promises for elections.

Cons -- One person can't effectively lead a society. Human nature will kick in, and that person and their friends will enjoy more privelege than others. Succession of leaders is a problem; we're not immortal. Positions such as dictator attract bad people, so even having a good dictator is only temporary, a bad one will eventually replace them. Usually consolidation of power is such that dissent with the dictator, or attempts at reform are brutally crushed and opposition to ideas is prevented.

Pros: effective rule, timely decisions, if you do as you're told you can count on protection.

Cons: Loss of freedom, possible death if you don't do as you're told, annoying cult of personality

Dictatorship is often the natural course for dying republics (Rome, Germany, Italy, Iran, Cuba). The management of large republics eventually becomes too much too handle with a democratic tradition. Dictatorship is much more effective and attractive, especially when conditions in a republic worsen for the people.

In today,s world of Information Technology it is certainly difficult for dictators to continue with controls. There is no use controlling masses,by dictatorship. Violations will icrease unless there are peaceful discussions amongst the leaders of masses. Weaponising the masses will be disasterous.

I don't see an upside to a dictatorship because they do end and most of the time not well for the people.

It is a largely stable form of government during the rule of the dictator. Things ordered done by the dictator, largely get done. There are no quarrelsome governmental bodies to tell the leader what he can or cannot do. Very good for leaders.

Generally large segments of the population are unhappy since they have no participation in the government. Supporters of the dictator usually prosper at the expense of everyone else.

The potential for arbitrary, stupid actions is magnified since there is no restrictions on the power of the dictator. Really stupid decisions can cost huge amounts of money and bring about civil unrest.

More free societies, which allow for individual control of one's own destiny, are generally richer because of the profit motive. "From one according to his abilites, to one according to his needs" sounds great, but it doesn't work a damn.

Pros, someone else types it up for you.

Cons: They make typos.

I rather like the idea of a dictatorship, we can do what is right and that is that. Then again, I am Darth Vader!

If the dictator is good, he knows what's best for most people and the country as a whole. If he's bad... ouch!
But no system can be judged in general. For instance, if you have five lunatics and one sane person in a room, and give them democracy... you figure out.

Simply put,
Pro- you are the dictator.
Con- you aren't the dictator.
The cons outweigh the pros just a bit.
