My mother always gave us the nice ones, and she took the burnt ones. My brother once told me that this was one of the things that made Mom the "martyr" that she was. Always slow suffering so her kids got the best.
Now, I throw out the worst of the burnt, and pile the "little bit burnt" on the same plate, for all. (Unless I have to take the cookies to some meeting or something. Then, the burnt ones stay home for us.)

My child gets the nice ones, I prefer the burnt ones I just scrape off the top of the cookie where it is not burnt with my two front teeth.

I don't burn cookies...but if I did, they would get the nice ones...if they burnt it would be my fault anyway, that'll teach me to bake better cookies!

if i had kids... i'd give them the burnt ones... i don't want them wanting cookies that much... it's like teaching them good dietary habits early...
