Yeah, we were camping over on Fraser Island, and camping light, I only took one set of shoes and a dingo ran off with one of them. Bugger. No shop for miles so I was barefoot for days.

I never take any shoes along unless it's well below freezing, in case I get stranded somewhere and get too cold. At other times, I don't care that I am barefoot; after all, I always am. The railway system has problems sometimes which leaves me stranded for half an hour, an hour or even more but it's not my feet or shoes I'm concerned with when that happens.
Btw, the last time I *did* get stranded in snowy weather for about an hour or more at a train station, I didn't get cold so my shoes remained in my bag. I always dress very warmly from the ankle up, and my body has really adapted to keeping itself warm. I used to be a chilly-willy all over but not anymore.

Yeah. I wore an old pair of shoes, that had been in my closet for a number of years. Nice, basic 1 1/2 inch heels of man made material. I went to see the doctor.
The heels (on both shoes) decided to disntegrate that day. Totally fell apart, falling away from the shoes in big clumps, leaving a nasty trail of sawdust. And then the soles started tearing away, also in big clumps.
By the time I got in to see the doctor, the shoes were totalled. I went in stocking footed.
Had to go to WalMart for new shoes. Got a pair of athletic shoes, so I could go places and shop before going home that day.

Many times. I remember a few like they were yesterday.
When my (then) boyfriend's (now) fiance`s car was stolen when we were at the beach.
I went driving to my folks' farm for a few days and my car broke down, I was driving in bare feet as I am always barefoot when I stay with my parents, didn't have any shoes the whole time and had to wait for my dad to come to my rescue (four hours later)
I went to a party with my friends (I was 16 then) and we caught the wrong bus and ended up on the wrong side of town, we also left our shoes behind and were stuck in our bare feet on the wrong side of town with no way home but to walk.
None of these really concerned me because I liked wearing bare feet anyway.
