Find a new doctor ASAP!! Please!

I fell up some stairs about 4 days ago and started having contractions and when I went to the hospital the doctor that was on call OMG I wanted to kill him. He kept going on and on and on about things that weren't even relivent to what was going on. Then he kept telling me over and over that if my baby was born now because I was only 21 and a half weeks that there was NO way the baby would live...which I don't know if I believe that because my cousin had a baby at 22 weeks and the baby lived...had to spend his first year of life in the NICU but he is a healthy 5 year old now! This doctor was just so absurd. The nurses were even getting mad at him. They wanted to do this test strip to see if any of the discharge was amniotic fluid leaking and it took 10 minutes to get the go ahead just to put some of my discharge on the test strip. And we never even got the go ahead the OB nurse just said to the doctor well I'm going to do it because it needs to be done and then after that she proceeded to call a different doctor in because this doctor was getting me all worked up telling me my baby was going to die and he kept wanting to do a manual pelvic exam and he was HURTING me SO bad I was screaming at him to stop and both of the nurses had to yell at him to stop. At this point I would not allow the doctor even into my room, I was still having contractions about every 7/8 minutes. They eventually got the other doctor in...the contractions passed...baby is healthy and fine. I've just found myself on bed rest. So please, please, please get yourself a new doctor. And if you are pregnant and at any time you are feeling uncomfortable with any doctor you see please request a new one. You reserve the right to do so! Don't let yourself become tangled up with a doctor that they call "Dr Death" and yes I found out afterwards that this is what people in the town I live in call him! Oh and no this wasn't my normal OB, they eventually called her in though. This was just the doctor that was on call. Good luck and I wish you the best!

First thing is to relax. If you think your doctor is an idiot, which sounds like he may be, get another doctor who will work with you and understand your needs. Secondly, you could be pregnant, there are several women who have become pregnant while on the pill. In regards to all the sickness you are getting now, if you did become pregnant on the pill but you are still taking the pill, that could have a side effect. I would say your best bet is to take a test if you have not done so already and see what is going on. If you need to, get a blood test done from a different doctor. If you are not pregnant, then you may just be rejecting your birth control pills. Unfortunately these pills are not made for everyone so you may need a lower dose. Birth control can take some time going into effect in your body so that could explain why you are now just feeling symptoms. Either way, the rule of thumb is to act pregnant until you are sure that you are or are not. So you have to relax and get to the bottom of this.

I hope this helps and good luck.

I've been there. That happened with my daughter. The doctor is right. Ultrasounds are usually not correct about size only about other specifics. Because your doctor is the one monitoring your pregnancy he MUST have a reason to be expressing his concern. I am sure he does not mean to alarm you as small babies can be perfectly healthy babies and like the ultrasound says everything is fine. Talk to your doctor (with your spouse or a friend) about the specifics of his concerns. Let him tell you what may happen etc. Talk to your doctor about his strategy for increasing the baby's size, maybe he could put put you on a special diet. Also tell him if you are having a problem keeping food down, no apetite etc. Its pointless to tell you not to worry but worrying may cause your blood pressure to go up which will add to your worries. Get a second opinion or just change him completely if you are that pissed about your doctor. In my case I was glad to have a doctor who was straight with his answers and who cared enough to want me tested every week. Its better to do that than be sorry. My daughter was born 6lbs 2 ounces which is small in the healthy range You pay your doctor to be concerned. He's just trying to do his job. GOOD LUCK.

Well, most birth control pills aren't completely affective until you've been on them for at least a month unless otherwise stated in the information about your pill. If you and your husband had "unprotected" sex (excluding the pill) you could be pregnant. But the pill can also change how you body reacts to you having your period and may cause you to experience nausea and cramping. The best thing to do would be to get a blood test. I know you may be pissed at your doctor, but blood test can check for pregnancy or other causes of your symptoms/discomforts.

Side note: when my mom was pregnant w/ my sister and me, she was sicker than a dog pretty much through the whole pregnancy, but had two miscarriages where for the first 3 month, she was completely fine and wasn't sick at all. You might be the reverse. Healthy and fine for real pregnancies, sick for unsuccessful ones? Just a thought.

The way the pill works is by "tricking" your body into thinking it's pregnant. Maybe your symptoms are caused by the pills....it's really pretty common to feel queezy on the pill. If you are concerned than go buy one of those early detection tests. Diarrhea is not a sign of pregnancy. In fact most people get constipated. A stuffy nose can be a sign though. I was congested when I was prego.

If you dislike your doctor so much you should find another one that is reliable and actually knows what they are doing. Aside from that,.if you think you are pregnant DO NOT finish the pack. This can hurt the fetus. Also, take a pregnancy test. I know from recent experience that you can get a response as soon as five days before your missed period with First Response pregnancy test and they normally come two in a box (sometimes three) so if you want to retest for any reason, you can without having to purchase another one. Good luck!

Possible. You should still use condoms the first few weeks on the pill because your system isn't used to it yet and it's not as effective as it will be after say... a month. Try just taking an HPT and if you ARE pregnant... find a new doctor before this one sits there scratching his head trying to figure out what the GROWTH in your uterus is!

Just get a new doctor - finish your pack of pills and start your next pack maybe you are having a reaction to the new pills..it may have taken this long for it to hit your system...

If you are concerned about being pregnant go to your GP and ask for a pregnancy test via blood (still take your pills until you get the result)

Good luck

Well, I would say you have an upset tummy giving you cramps.
and the other symptoms are from your pill pack. It can take a while for the pills to give you symptoms, and they can come and go whenever they wish. One month you might have sensitive boobies and the next nothing.
Also, you might have a period, you might not.
Get a new ob/gyn. Try a midwife. I love them.

I guess you could be pregnant. Just wait until you are suppose to start your period, then take a test if your period doesn't start. If you've been taking the pill correctly, it SHOULD be effective. Sh!t happens though. I'd just wait a few days and see if your period starts. Then I'd request a different birth control. You could also ask about an IUD (intrauterine device) instead of the pill. Like Mirena or something.
