I once ate in a family group in small family-style Italian restaurant in a small city in Pennsylvania. The owner herself ( a little old-country style woman) served our table. The portions were large and we are not big pasta fans so we ended up leaving a lot of the pasta uneaten. Then we looked at the menu and said that the desserts looked good and we had made a selection. The server lady said "No. You can not have any dessert to eat because you did not finish eating your pasta." That was a lot more of home-style eating than we were prepared for.

Not sure about the worst, but the most recent bad experience came from a restaurant in the city center last weekend.
First off, the restaurant over booked, so we had to wait close to 40 minutes for a table. We didn't mind so much at this point because we could obviously see that the restaurant was really busy.
When we got sat down, the waiter (who had an attitude problem) told us half the wines where missing from the wine list and most of the specials from the food list had sold out.
Again, even though we where a little annoyed, we didn't make a big deal of it because it was extremely busy.
After eventually placing our order the waiter with the attitude problem came back and told us that most of what we just ordered had, you guessed it, sold out.
We ordered and after half an hour the starters had not even arrived, so we had been in the restaurant over two hours and still hadn't had anything to eat.
We complained to the waiter, who obviously didn't give a rats behind, asked to pay for the few drinks we had ordered in the time we where there, canceled the starter and left.
We could have complained and asked to see the manager but at this point we where all that fed up we just wanted to leave and it spoiled what was supposed to be a good night because it was a friends birthday.

We ordered drinks, my mother-in-law order a margarita crushed with salt and got it on the rocks no salt. When they fixed it, the drink looked like someone had taken handfuls of salt and just mashed them on the side. We ordered appetizers and salads and entrée and dessert. The appetizer and salads came out at the same time and they missed an entrée so my husband sat there and watched us eat as he waited for his food, which came out by the time we were all almost done. The dessert came out with no spoons and when the waitress came back she brought one spoon to the table for six people and said, “Sorry this is all I can find, I guess we need to get more”, and by that time the ice cream had melted on all the desserts anyway. Then my husband teasingly went to eat off the plate when I noticed that under the chocolate sauce his cheesecake was covered in mold. My husband took the plate walked right back into the kitchen found the manager behind the restaurant smoking. My husband showed him the cake and told him about our experience. We didn’t pay for the meal and haven’t been back since…

Hmm...my worst food experience was when I was at the "Chinese Food" restaurant (that was the name) in San Fransisco in Chinatown.
The waitress (also the manager) insisted (in broken English) that she bring everyone, including me (10 years old at the time) an alcoholic drink. My dad refused the offer and she got upset.
So, as payment, she brought all our dishes extra slow (wouldn't bring the orange chicken until we finished the chowmein, wouldn't bring the beef and broccoli until we finished the orange chicken, etc.) and ignored any requests we made for it to be brought all at once.
We finally just left, hungry and broke after paying the huge costs (no tip, of course!).
That was the WORST dining experience I've ever had.

One day I walked into Don Pablos it was the first time I was every going to eat there, well, when I walked in the door with my husband and our son the hostess was outright rude, she looked at us and rolled her eyes (she was young and hateful), so anyway she said "follow me" and grabbed two menus. The way she said "follow me" was very demeaning and hateful it was like in a tone that was saying "oh gosh, not another customer" so anyway she sat us with our infant son right in the middle of the room with all these people around and I prefer a booth and there were plenty of them open so I don't know what she was thinking. I then asked her "Can we please sit at a booth, they are more comfortable?" So she picked up the menus, huffed real loud everyone was staring at this point, walked us over to a booth, slammed the menus down and just walked off. We sat down and my husband said "see, that's the problem with these places, they hire these young people and they are rude." So I said "let's just leave, I am not going to eat here" we got up to leave and I called her a b word on the way out of the door.

My law firm took me out to lunch for my birthday to a nice restaurant. We all thought our waiter was a little strange, but no one really said anything until at one point he actually told us he was having an off day, and then the next time he came to our table he spilled a full tray of iced tea on me and the lawyer sitting next to me. He didn't come back to our table after that.

I once had a rude waitress (extremely RUDE) so I didn't tip her. ( if you can't manage to be the least bit nice, don't expect a tip and maybe examine other job choices)
She actually chased me out into the parking lot to yell at me for not tipping. I had a solid argument and a few choice words that I can't say on here and she crawled back under the bridge she came from. I have never been back to that establishment, but I do remember you Felicia!!

I hate people who eat the whole thing and then come up and say it was awful. If its so bad how could you eat the whole thing. tell somebody as soon as you taste it and decide it is not something you want to eat
