I think that I've actually become a more tolerant person and I'm now better able to understand the viewpoints of some with whom I disagree.

Yeah, I think I have. I hang out at R&S quite a bit, and my point in doing so - initially anyway, was to develop my testimony more. Or more accurately, to develop my ability to voice my testimony more. While I felt I always had one, and if a point were made I could agree and expound on it, or disagree and give reasons why, I didn't feel like I could make a point on my own. At the church I am a member of we have one Sunday set aside each month for the bearing of testimonies by members of the congregation. While I still haven't done that, I have become more vocal in Sunday School class and have felt more comfortable doing so. Before I became an R&S regular, I didn't really say much during Sunday School because I didn't want to appear dumb if I happened to be wrong. Now I don't care if I'm wrong, at least I'm participating, and if I have a particular opinion and I'm wrong about it then it's an opportunity to discuss it and shed some light on it and possibly help others who may share my pov. There have been several instances during Sunday School where I've walked in late, just as the teacher was asking a question and I piped up with an answer and the teacher said - Nice try, but thanks for playing, or No, that's not even a little bit right. And I just smiled and said Ok, I'm wrong. And the teacher went on to explain the right answer. It was great! And I would have never had the courage or guts to be that bold before going into the volitile, sink or swim, grow a thick skin or go home world of YARS. It's been great!
I've also learned a lot about religions I could have never learned about in the real world. I mean it's not like you can just go to a street corner and yell, Hey Atheist's answer this question I have for you. And yet here it's perfectly acceptable to pinpoint your audience if you're looking for answers from a specific segment of the R&S population.
I could go on, but that's enough.
EDIT: Princess Wannabe's English has improved since coming here. Although it was good almost from the first post I saw of her's, there were a few syntax errors and now I think most people don't even know she doesn't live in a country where English is the primary language. Way to go!
