I thinking on buying somekind of wireless router to my house. I have Verizon Fios Internet and i need to know if i could just buy any router and have wireless connection all over my house. Will the download/upload speed be still the same as my Verizon Fios router?
Also, what are some good wireless routers, and how much are they.

any wireless router will do. just plug the router into the modem and thats it. i prefer linksys routers because they are cheap and they work really well. the connection wirelessly will be slightly less than if you plugged directly into the modem, but its still faster than dialup.

Netgear are the best. You don't necessarily need a tech when your router acts up though. They all act up at some time or another, sometimes for no good reason at all. Usually resetting them by unplugging them, waiting at least 2 minutes, the plugging them back in does the trick. Once all the lights come back on, it should work. it's not always necessary, but it doesn't hurt to restart your computer after you've done that. You might have a reset button on your router, which is the same as unplugging it and plugging it back in.

If you buy a good router, installation can be as smooth as silk! Mine was. Three easy steps and voila! So no need to be nervous, I think!
You could spend anywhere from $40 to $150, I think, depending on how "fancy" and powerful you want to get. I went for the snazzy end of things and got a "souped up" Linksys. I know that Linksys and D-Link are good brands. A friend of mine who works for Cisco, however, said you could often get by with the least expensive reasonably well reputed router you could find.
So go to PC Mag and Eopinions.com for reviews then go to www.google.com/products and search for the brand/model you pick and find the lowest price for that one.

Some good routers are from D-Link and LinkSys..
What type of internet connection do you have? DSL, Cable?
If you have DSL, I would suggest a somewhat cheaper router.. the more expensive ones are for larger networks with faster connections.

Depends on your use, games? laptop? as you have DSL I wouldn't go for the max gb's as it would be wasted. As the other replier said D-link or Syslink are very good. WHATEVER YOU CHOSE: be sure to properly encrypt it or people will be sucking your bandwidth. You still must have at least one computer ethered to the router and, in general you have a 30ft. radius to access the wireless in your house, assuming you don't have any walls made of lead.

I can tell you why I think Linksys is the best. Several times I've had to call them with various friends problems (they ask me to help)
and the tech support is beyond fantastic! Patient, easy to work with, and happy to help. I can't say enough about great tech support.
Buy it and call them!

I have good experience with Linksys. I re-flash them with dd-wrt firmware and can tweak the power so I get a good speed in every room of my house.
Check it out on:
