Our bodies may decay, our bodies may even be blown up, but they always remain. Our essence, the spark that makes us us, does that also exist eternally?

that depends on whether you mean as an individual essence, like a soul or spirit, or as a memory or an act.

as a spirit, that is a question that cannot have a right or wrong answer, but is completely dependent on what you are able to justify in your beliefs, for example many christians cannot understand the ideal of a holy trinity (father, son, holy spirit) so they choose to omit it from their own beliefs, but continue in a christian faith. most people believe in the spirit as a the core of your being that acts as the continuation of your existence after you die. others believe that death marks the end of your existence. it all depends on your own mental process, whether you are logically or spiritually orientated.

as an act or a memory however, people can last forever, especially if they are a parental figure, children often acquire habits and qualities of their parents, so it can possibly be said that a very distinctive quality can be passed down for multiple generations. people also have a daily affect on the lives and theories of other people which can in turn be adopted and carried forward by someone who is significantly affected. So in the end we do continue regardless...

The most cogent answer I have found centers around the hypothesis that we imprint the zero field with our minds, then recover that karma in the next life. That would give the karma immortality. Life is the opportunity to change karma and learn.

I see no evidence of of continuing existence after death. And what do you mean by our bodies go on?

They are absorbed into the the fabric of the world/universe. They do not continue as a body.

define 'remain'. The body rots into the earth, de-composes. Not exactly a qualitative existence and eternal existence of its remnants are debatable. Spiritual eternity? Noone knows, its all conjecture........

You are referring to the physics concept of the law of conservation of energy and matter.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_Conservation_of_Matter
It is a sound theory and I think it can be applied to the energy in our bodies as well as the material body itself.

our external, fleshly bodies rot when we die. our soul either goes to heaven or hell. we are either tortured or are in extreme happiness for eternity. can't go from one to the other once you're dead. so make sure where you go before you're dead...
