If so, how can you explain your lack of tolerance and respect? I know quite a few conservatives and independants that I have the upmost respect for.

Note I did NOT accuse all Conservatives of holding this viewpoint. Just the ones who are closed to any viewpoint other than their own. And there are quite a few on Answers... and yes there ARE far left posters who are the same way.

Bryan - Did I insult anyone with that question? You know why I asked that? I went through 6 or 7 questions and noticed that certain right leaning people kept bringing moveon.org into their answers - even if it had NOTHING to do with the question other than to slander the left. I think it's a fair question. There are times I can tell exactly what Bill O'Reilly's talking points were the night before because his followers will come on here and regurgitate his thoughts!

You are absolutely right. The lack of tolerance and repect stems from the idea that "liberals" to them is a smear of the most viscous order.
Look at most of the questions and the way they frame them:
"liberals, why do you hate your country?" WRONG.
"liberals, why do you insist on killing babies?" WRONG
"liberals, why is Islam good but all other religions bad?"
WRONG!
Please. Thats not an argument. Its just verbal abuse.
Let's stop "goosestepping" ourselves here. "Conservative" is often a santised word for hater, not an explainer of free-market capitlaism.
And the "liberal" label is an updated version of calling anything they dont understand as once "commie", which they brought back because they are thoroughly out of ideas.

Absolutely not. I know many moderates. In fact I believe that the vast majority of the people in the country are moderate. Very few people are conservative or liberal. Most exist closer to middle and tend to cross the lines one way or the other on an issue by issue basis.
Now having said that I will also say this. Whenever you ask question like the one below. Which you asked, you will not only be considered a liberal, but an extreme left leaning one at that. This is due to the fact that there is nothing moderate about it. So before you start to lecture on tolerance and respect take a good long look in the mirror and kindly stop generalizing.
What is the Conservative buzzword of the day?
moveon.org?
commie loving liberals?
Barrack "Obama" Bin Laden

Given the question I guess I'm not a conservative. I find value in most people's opinions. I man not agree but it may give me a different look at things.
I dislike, intensely, the tendency of both sides of the political spectrum to assume that the other side is monolithic and loaded with loathsome personal characteristics. The inability to get beyond a label is a sign of either the weakness of an argument or the weakness in the character of the individual.
I tend to believe that conservatives are more frequently arguing points with facts than liberals (at least based on what I see in YA), but that could be my bias.
I have seen quite a few questions and answers in here that clearly indicate people who are not conservative, who are also not liberal. In addition, I would suggest that many of the liberals (so identified by their questions) who have raised positive points requiring a thoughtful response.
I'm having a lot of trouble trying to explain my "lack of tolerance and respect" given that I truly believe that I am tolerant and respectful. The only evidence that I can give as to my tolerance and respect is that I have two teenage daughters, a wife of 27 years and three dogs and I do not currently reside in a mental institution...

No, but it's easier on here to lump everyone into one category or the other.
And I have a lot of liberal friends - some VERY liberal. Some I have wonderful debates debates with... and with some, we don't touch politics. But that doesn't mean we can't like and respect each other - I'm pretty close to a woman that holds almost polar opposite political beliefs, and we talk quite often....just not about politics. ;o)
I hate to see *both* sides dismissing their fellow countrymen so easily - we are all AMERICANS.
Edit - The intolerance goes BOTH WAYS on here! I've been called a redneck, warmonger, stupid, inbred, etc... but I certainly don't hold *all* left-leaning people accountable for the actions of a few rabid liberidiots on Yahoo.

i've got had extremely some adventure with breeding and coaching canines, and that's extra significant than my political comments, yet for the record i'm a average Democrat, which makes me a screaming liberal right here. the priority with risky breed rules is that the main threatening canines are not restrained to a particular breed, except they have been bred that way, In otherwords, once you're into dogfighting, you will possibly breed the two maximum precious or fiercest animals in the desire they might bypass that trait on. because pitbulls, (an extremely faulty term btw) are those in many situations used in the hoop, that's the place the priority comes from, you do no longer be responsive to, except you pass to an extremely careful breeder what the breeding inventory grow to be, and you're able to get a canines with a bent to in no way stop as quickly because it began. you may't prepare that away if its there, that is a organic instinct raised to the nth degree by utilising layout. the priority comes from the way a pit bull's jaw works, it has extra psi than the final canines, and it could inflict plenty extra harm that maximum canines. some stunning canines could be provoked into combating, and the guidelines take that into consideration. At this factor i might want to ascertain pit bulls no longer being bred, enormously without papers. Pit bulls are seen to be no longer a real breed by utilising the AKC. Its a catchall term for animals with American Staffordshire genes of their history.

No, people who are not conservative are misguided, that's all. What lack of tolerance and respect? I see no difference here between conservatives, liberals and others regarding tolerance and respect for differing opinions and beliefs.
If you choose to open your eyes, you will see as much (or more) intolerance and disrespect from the left toward the right.
FYI, respect is earned, not assumed.

Please... this is really a bogus question. Of course Conservatives know liberals and have respect for them and vice versa. Your speaking to the few on both sides that "pop off" like children.
But you do know that you can disagree and still respect someone else? You also do not need to be "tollerant" in every instance as it may compromise your principles. This is also the same on both sides.

I lack respect and tolerance for Liberals who accuse the President of being a murderer. Say he went AWOL. Say he lied. Say he was behind 9/11. Say he's dumb. Or push socialism.
Moveon.org is a good example of the Liberal in this country that do not deserve tolerance and respect.

Are you basing your judgments on the q & a on this site? LOL
I live in the world of attorneys. And there are a couple of us who are staunchly Conservative.
A couple who are outrageously and hiliariously supporting Ron Paul.
And a couple of Libs.
Everyone else clears the room when we talk. True story. Politics is NOT for the tender.
