James Spader just won the Emmy this year for his portrayal of Alan Shore on Boston Legal. This is his third Emmy for this character, and he has received one for playing Alan Shore on both The Practice and Boston Legal. What other actors have done this? Also have any other actors/actresses won three Emmys within a span of four years?

And I think the people above me are wrong, as I don't see Kelsey Grammer listed in supporting or lead comedy categories for winning for his role on Cheers.

So, there were a lot of people that won multiple Emmys in a short period of time. I cannot find anyone else that won Emmys for the same role on two different shows, though.

it's funny you should ask. in the years that spader won for the practice and the first year of boston legal, his co-star, william shatner won in the supporting category for playing the same character in each of those shows as well.
