Rember back in the 90's and before decades when an R&B song came on it actually made you think? It actually made you listen to the lyrics and it made you feel the emotion the artist was expressing in the song? I'm not saying that I don't like the R&B songs out today. The mainstream R&B now really has no meaning to it. Who else agrees with me?

I agree, I don't hear any R&B here. Its mostly hyphy and rap. From the "Isley Brothers song Living for the love of you" "Bloodstone song Oh Honey" to "Earth, Wind & Fire song Can I hold your hand" to "Commadores song Zoom" and R. Kelly, D'Angelo. Oh yeah, some "Emotions song Don't ask my neighbor" "Rose Royce the whole album was pretty good." Yes, and even "Rick James song Love them and leave them" and Luther Vandross his voice was made for music. And last but not least my man Marvin Gaye, he's probably singing with the angels now. I miss his music. He did leave us with alot of songs. Have a nice day.

I agree also. Why does there has to be so much cursing and suggestive language in what otherwise might be half way decent songs? Songs today are more about sex and lust rather than love and romance. I know that there were songs "back in the day" that were suggestive. But they were usually a lot more subtle about it. The lyrics might be erotic, be not filthy! Many other songs of today almost bore me to death!

To me, the greatest R&B & Soul songs came out in the 60's, 70's and early 80's. I wish more younger people would seek out and listen to these great songs.

I agree with everyone else R& B isnt what it used to be. It seems like the most important think on the artist minds are how many albums they can put out and sell instead what type of album or message they want people to hear in their music. You really have to pull out the ol skool music if you want to hear good R & B.

I do agree with you to an extent, MOST (not all) of the mainstream R&B artist out today don't seem to put to much consideration or expression in their lyrics......

however that's why i Love my Jagged Edge... their lyrics are priceless they are for sure on top of R&B and have been for a long time!!!! LOVE EM...LOVE EM!!!

Right now, the soul is limited, I love Anthony Hamilton & Dave Holister, it's all about the money now days and not talent. I really miss Luther. :( Nowdays u have 2 go back in the day for classic music.

I agree with you young lady, the older songs are a whole lot better. In ''R &B'' and ''C&W'' it is a shame too.
