Rights have responsibilities attached. You have the right to free speech as long as it doesn't cause harm to others. Yelling fire in a crowded theater, slander, and libel are illegal uses of free speech. And generally it is considered rude and unnecessary to use vulgar or derogatory speech about or toward others. Your rights end where the next persons begin.

That doesn't really make it free speech now does it? There are certain restrictions which should be placed on free speech. Example: You cannot yell fire in a crowded movie theater. However, we should never allow free speech to be curtailed just because we don't agree with what is being said. The recourse for combating free speech abuse is free speech. By this I mean that if you do not like what is being said you have options. Disengage from the conversation entirely, or use your own rights and speak out against that which you didn't like which was being said by another. If we start making distinctions about what is acceptable to say, pretty soon we won't be able to say anything at all.

Free speech is one of the most misunderstood ideas in the Bill of Rights.
Read The Federalist Papers to see what our founding fathers intended when they spoke of "freedom"...what does "free" mean in the term free speech? It doesn't mean unrestrained.
We cannot have anarchy. That is what unrestrained free speech would lead to. We MUST follow rules to have any semblemce of progression or goodness...

Yep.
Now if you try to utilize your free speech in the U.S. it will be corralled and if you do get through when it becomes too polarizing or if you ask a question too long you will be removed, tazered, and arrested!
Welcome to America!
One Nation.......under surveillance!
Utilize your free speech rights at your own discretion!
