but yesterday her & her boyfriend went to the clinic to take a test and it read negative. She says that it was too soon because her period isn't late yet so they will just wait a little longer then go take another one. She went ahead and told her mom that she thought she was and her mom already said that if she is then she will make her have an abortion. My friend really doesn't want that at all, she doesn't want to kill something that is apart of her! What can she do? She's 17...can her mom make her get an abortion if she doesn't want to?

Her mom cannot make her have an abortion. Its HER body, not her mothers. It was really silly of her to take a test before she was even late. And she certainly shouldn't have informed her mother that she was possibly pregnant before she truly knew. I'm surprised the clinic performed a test when she wasn't even late yet. Most places would just tell you to come back when you were 3+ days late.

Well there is a pregnancy test in the store, that predict if you are pregnant 5 days before your missed period... so maybe she can pick that one up and test at home. If her period isn't late yet then this would probably be a good way to figure it out if she is pregnant....

No she can't. She can't even kick her out of the house at 17. She is still financially responsible for eveything her daughter does until she is 18.

It sounds almost like your friend wanted to get pregnant. Why did she think she was pregnant before she missed her period?

NO ONE can make you have an abortion, check your state and local laws to see when she can become emansipated(sorry bad spelling) but when my sister was preggo when she was 17 in iowa state law said she was emansipated(sp?) so just check the laws and if you can't find the info call your DHS office, they are usually realy nice and helpful, especially ifyou tell them about the forcing of an abortion. good luck!

there is an exceptionally good hazard that she is pregnant :-/ yet whilst she is she needs to take the duty and tell her father and mom herself that she has been having unprotected intercourse and that it replaced into her selection, and had not something to do with you and your loved ones. If she feels like she's old adequate to have intercourse then she needs to take the duty.

I think it was bad of her to jump to assumptions to quickly without being 100% positive that she was pregnant.

Me and my GF have been there, and unless she is absolutely sure, she should not start freaking people out.

Kinda messed up of her mom, but remember it is what is best for the baby NOT the mother.

no, if she wants to keep the baby that is her choice. She should not let het mom do that to her, because she will be scarred for the rest of her life and she will regret letting her do that. she should start being more responsible though, and get a job or something to start saving to care for the baby.

No one can make you get an abortion no matter how old you are.

However, hopefully she isn't pregnant. Tell her to close her legs or get on BC if she plans on being sexually active.

Depending on state rules(i'm in NJ), I don't think your parents can "make/force" you to get an abortion. they also cannot "kick you out" until after the baby's born.
