No,right now i have 63 snakes in my reptile collections. i love snakes. there very interesting creatures. i hate when people say "ew there slimy" when they haven't even touched one or " their ugly and gross because they eat pore anI'mals" when actually they have beautiful patterns and im sorry but you ate meat before haven't you so your eating ''pore little anI'mals'' too but the best one is "snakes are the devil" well im sorry but that is a bunch of crap!
i hate when people are scared of snakes too, they're is NOTHING to be afraid, yes venomous snakes can bite and do harm but just keep your distance and you should be fine but don't fear them.
usually snakes only bite when you annoy them and invade their territory.
also i try to take my reptiles to local pet expos, schools and places like that to educate people on snakes, lizards, turtles, frogs etc... etc..
if you ever decide to get a snake your best bet for a first snake would be a ball python or corn snake.

Definately not. I've got a ball python and hope to have more when funds are available. I wouldn't go out in the woods and just randomly pick up snakes though, unless I know the type of snake and am sure of it being non-venomous. Living in NC, there are a few poisonous snakes around but not much to worry about unless you try to kill or pick them up. Truthfully I go in the woods all the time and did as a kid as well and rarely see snakes. All in all snakes are great even though people like to give them a bad reputation, but ignorance always gets passed along faster than the truth.

No, well not home kept. I can't see myself going under rocks and picking up everyone I see. I had bought one for my son, a ball python. We named him Magus. The coolest snake ever! I loved the way he attacked and ate the mice. The coolest part is how the lower jaw is actually two pieces! Does it make me a bad person that I recorded some of the feedings?

I don't feel you should be afraid of most any animal. thats what they thrive off of. You scared, they domonate. You not scared they tend to back down. So no I'm not afraid of snakes, but in my line of work (HVAC) I really hop not to be way underneath a home and run up on a pissed off on.:)

Yes. It's real weird. I LOVE lizards, but snakes scare the CRAP out of me. But, only the HUGE ones, like anaconda's and such.
