I'm at work, and I was just wondering...why do women put SO much damn perfume on...?

I feel like I'm at the friggin perfume counter at a department store!!!

Because somewhere along the way some guy was like oh you smell so good and sexy. So the more perfume the more sexy.

I think sometimes it's because they can't smell it after a bit, so they think nobody else can, either!
Maybe they smoke, and don't want people to know they smoke? Maybe they live with a smoker, and find the odor disgusting, so they try to cover it up. Maybe the outfit they planned to wear was in the dirty clothes hamper! Or, like everybody else said, maybe they think bathing in perfume is a good substitute for just plain bathing!
If it's a particular person, and it's a real problem for you, maybe you could speak to your supervisor, who should then ask the offending party to tone it down. If it's a lot of somebodies, maybe your supervisor could send around or post a memo asking people to refrain from excessive scents. If you don't want to go to your supervisor, slip a polite, anonymous, message into the offending party's mailbox, or post on the employee bulletin board. Something simple, like, "Love your fragrance! Unfortunately, some of your co-workers are very sensitive to perfumes, and would appreciate it if you could cut down on your usage." The guilty party will most likely never know where it came from, but anyone who is not an absolute bone-head should get the point! This is the most diplomatic solution.
Your other options are a desk-top air cleaner, or a small fan in your space. A potted plant will help clear the air, too. Try a rubber plant. They work well, and are hardy! Good luck!

Sometimes hehehe they do not realize they put to much on when they are rushing in the morning hehe or they just want to smell marvelous I rather smell like perfume hehe but its true certain frangences are more potent then others hehe I love perfume but you have to aply it correctly it takes some time and that includes as well the body sprays and creams along with my perfumes hehehehe I am so girlie i love it hehe

Not all women put on a lot of perfume but I do know what you mean. I only wish that some men would put on just a little to cover what they feel is "O natural" and attractive!

Honestly don't know... I wear a squirt of light stuff because I get sick myself if I wear more... maybe they're trying to cover up other smells on their person such as cigarette smoke or something... or maybe they're just older and they're used to that really strong stuff... or or or, maybe they've just never been taught the proper perfume etiquette! This could be your chance to make a difference in someone's life!!!

I don't know but it sure makes my life hell as I'm allergic to perfume. Its forcing me to turn into a hermit.

There's a mistaken belief (perpetuated by tons of advetising) that perfume is somehow linked to pheremones (natural chemicals emitted my the body which enhance sexual arousal) Its not true.

Heavy perfumers sometimes think the scent went away because they can't smell it any more, so they put more of it on. Not saying it's right, just that it's true. They don't realize they merely got used to it. Quite ignorant of them.

I don't know but I will always comment because I get an instant headache and will start sneezing. They should make bottles that only pump the exact amount needed then shut down for 8 hours so there is no overload

I think some people overestimate when they put it on in the mornings because they think it's gonna wear off during the day. Both men & women are guilty of this. Gives me a headache!

Because they're ignorant or their nose isn't working properly enough to know that their perfume reeks.
