The coat was left on a radiator airer, which melted palstic into the fibres of a gorgeous coat I am not willing to part with! Have tried: nail polish remover, white spirit, ironing it with brown paper, with kitchen roll - to no avail. A bit gets removed, but nowhere near enough. Please please help!!!

Heat won't be the answer, since the plastic probably melts at a higher temperature than the coat fibers, meaning you will melt your coat before you melt the plastic. Scraping might work. Also, try non-toxic plastic modeling glue as a last resort. It disolves plastic, but it may do the same to your coat!

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/QwNZe
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.

Ice - freeze the area as often as needed - followed with a lot of patience 'picking' off the itty pieces.

Good Lord, I came back to this question to read other people's suggestions cause hey clothes aren't cheap and I'm always interested in learning good tips

and I find folks have thumbs down things on their answers- this wasn't even a question that invited any thumbs activity.

I liked your question

but I'm done with all Yahoo Q/A - this place is ridiculous.
