athletes in most sports? The fastest man in the world is black, best basketball, football, tennis players, golfers, and I am sure I'm forgetting some. People love using affirmative action. But its talent and skill. What do you have to say?

Let me clarify one thing. I did not mean that black people like to use affirmative action. What I meant was some white people love to CLAIM that black people like to use affirmative action. Most of my black friends despise it and they see it as a nuisance.
So my question was mainly to the people that say black people only accomplish things because of affirmative action. Since affirmative action has nothing to do with skill I wanted to see what they would say.

To the person that said black people haven't been the top at the tennis game for many years. Have you forgotten about Serena and Venus Williams??

I come from a Black family where we are academic achievers. Affirmative action had nothing to do with this; mom and dad paid for undergraduate studies for me and my brother. My two master's degrees were obtained by being awarded competitive fellowships. In turn for my second one at UT Austin, I made a 4.0 average. I am not remarkable, this is characteristic of the extended family I am from. Here is a link to my fraternal GGGgrandfather; Hiram Wilson. What the historians do not tell you in this article is that it is believed he was actually the son of the John Wilson. Go down the page and you will see what he accomplished...so all you bigots who try to imply that we are uni-dimensional and lacking intellectually...you are so wrong...BTW. No affirmative action, no jumping up and down proclaiming that slavery or vicious attacks "held us down;" although they both happened. Instead of wasting time with these mindless comments, it would be a good idea for you to study Black history in America. We also accelerate in math and science. My ex who is a Black man actually was a rocket scientist. Where he worked there were many notable Black Physicists , Chemists and other Scientists. After reading the propaganda based responses on this post...I just had to reply. Since we are having this conversation, I would like to know what the posters who are throwing about this stereotypical banter.....EXACTLY what have you accomplished or contributed to the world????????? Sorry to go on this tangent, Word is Bond, but some of these responses just blew my mind.

Assuming I understand your oddly worded question....
Firstly, what you have said is a stereotype, it is not proven to be true. Secondly, many of the black athletes come from a poor upbringing. I read a peer-reviewed article on this and as it turns out, young black boys are not enouraged in the school system to seek education. They are encouraged by teachers to pursue athletics. They are futher encouraged by the media which tells them that they have a guranteed way out of poverty if they pursue sports and/or entertainment.
So understand the sociology behind your statements before you make them. Any schmuck can conjure up a correlation. However, correlation does not mean causation.
(I'm not saying you're a schmuck, I'm just saying that most people think in simple terms when they want to feed their agenda. I would love if you further explained your question so that I might understand exactly what you're getting at.)

Your question is flawed as it makes false assumptions, ie; that blacks are the best.
In the US, there are many ghetto blacks and for most, their only legal chance at a future are sports and rap. So unless they want to end up in jail for selling drugs or robbing stores/people, that's what they do. The more that blacks that try out, the better the odds that one will do well.
But let's look at what you say:
Basketball: 2004 Olympics: all black American men's team placed 3rd behind a South American team and a European team. The Olympics in general are dominated by white and Asian countries. In 2004, there was not 1 black country in the top 10 medal winners. Not one in the top 25, either. How odd that countries filled with the best athletes would do so poorly.
Football: Whites hold many records, including highest scorer for a single team, most career points, highest scorer for a single post season. And isn't that what football's about, getting points?
Tennis: There hasn't been a black ranked no. 1 in many years.
Golf: Who's a successful black golfer? I know you're not talking about Tiger Woods, who is 62.5% Asian.
You're right though about them being fast. And that's all you're right about.

What I would like is a color-blind world. The world of MLK's dreams still hasn't happened over 40 years later.
I am all for skipping race and name on all applications. (There's a study that some people discriminate based on names. They are more likely to hire Mary than Latisha.) When -- if -- that ever happens, that is when we can be color blind at work and at school.
I don't get the big idea. I know a lot of African American friends of mine have experienced discrimination in one form or another but I also know that anything against them is interpreted as due to the color of their skin. Why can't it be they just don't like your personality? I know it's hard to break habits like automatically thinking it's about race, but it needs to be broken somehow. Can it be broken?

Talent and skill is wonderfull as long as there are resources to help develop them.
You can have all the talent and skill in the world, but if you're stuck in a mud hut in the middle of nowhere that talent and skill isn't worth much.

Yes I think that in sports we should use a ratio based on population as a sports affirmative action program so whitee can be involved in sports also.

Skill, and natural talent. Blacks are by the nature of their race are more athletic. That said, by virtue of personal observation, because they tend to be as muscular as they are, they tend to not do very well in swimming.
