My husband and I have been trying for about 8 months to get pregnant but to no avail, I feel desparate now and cant stand seeing pregnant women it just makes me so upset, I have heard about this drug that can stimulate the ovaries to poduce more folicles, Has anyone experienced them and did they work? Or should I have another crack at the ovulation tests? Thankyou!!

hi there,
it depends what the actaul problem is but clomid is really succesful and it makes 80 % of women ovulate only 40-50% of them will get pregnant. (approx)
if the problem is you dont ovulate then it could well work for you but the first thing you need to do is get refered to the gynocolist who will then start investigating as to why you havent got pg yet i.e check the tubes, sperm, blood tests ect
in the meantime carry on what your doing bms when you might be ovualting, get as fit and healthy as you can i.e no drinking, smoking losing weight if you need too.
i know its hard i feel the pain everday too, but hope we both get a bfp soon x
p.s you might be able to get some better support here xx

Me and my hubby tried for nearly 18 months and I was finally put on Clomid because I wasn't ovulating (I have PCOS) and I got pregnant on the first cycle of it. The side effects are a little annoying, I was crabby and emotional and gained a little weight but it was well worth it. I find out tomorrow if there is more than one in there though since I am high risk for having multiples. However, most doctors will not actually try a fertility drug with you until a) you have tried naturally for over a year and b) there is an actual problem to correct. For now, I would just keep trying until it's been a year. If after a year has passed you haven't had any luck, then go to a dr to see if they can find anything wrong and they will work with you both to get you pregnant! Good luck and baby dust to you!

First of all, it can take perfectly healthy couples a year or more to conceive. Clomid works for many women who have no ovulation or poor ovulation. However, if someone has blocked tubes or poor sperm, clomid will do nothing.

yes it does work for some, not everyone, clomid is directed to take for no longer then 6 months, I am currently on clomid this month is my 4 cycle on it, and haven't ovulated as yet so my dr perscribe metformin to take along with it, I have been ttc#1 for 4 years now

Yes, I'm proof that Clomid works, I was on my third round and found out this morning that I'm pregnant, 3rd times a charm :)
I would make an apt. with your dr. so they can explain everything to you. It really doesn't have any bad side effects from it, I only got hot flashes and some headaches.
Good luck and lots of Baby dust**********

Clomid does work - sometimes TOO well. BUt it can have dangerous side effects too. My sis-in-law took it and got a wicked ovarian cyst. :(
Please go to your doctor and get a "fertility workup" done. If ovulation is a problem, the first thing your doctor will probably try will be Clomid.
Good luck and baby dust to you! :)
I am infertile too and I know your pain. :) Best wishes!
