I'm on the West coast and I was in college getting ready for my morning class. My cell phone rang and my ex boyfriend who lived in Maryland called me in a panick and told me to turn on the news. My heart then sank.

I got home from surfing flipped on the TV and there it was happening. At first I thought it was a disaster movie getting previewed, I think I screamed some filthy obscenity when I realized it was real, that the WTC going down was not stage craft but reality. The newscasters were grimly pointing out that as many as 50,000 workers inhabited those buildings on a typical day, I was totally blown away. The fact that 3,000 instead of 50,000 died that day (one was too many but 3000 is a lot better than 50,000!!) only goes to show the incredible heroism of the New York Fire Department, the police, and security people in the WTC. God Bless Them All.

I live a 2 minute drive from the Pentagon. I walked outside just after the attack on the Pentagon on my way to class (I hadn't been watching the news because I was late and had no idea what happened) and it was like being trapped in a movie. People were everywhere just standing, looking stunned, cars were left running. It was crazy.

I was cleaning up outside when I got the message on the phone from my hubby. I don’t remember his message, just the tone of his voice was serious shock. He told me to turn on the TV, but we were selling the house and had already took the tv out. So I finished up what I was doing and drove home. He was there with the TV on. That evening I was skinning chicken parts for dinner and I almost slices my finger off. My mind was zoned out because of what had happened. I went to the emergency room and got stitches. I was crying, but not from the stitches. I felt so weak, so drained because of what had happened. It was a sad week for me.

Yes.I was home sleeping since we were up all night talking to our son who had just flown in from France via Logan Airport!
He had only been back home about 5 hours when my older sister called crying and screaming about the end of the world and where was my son.
My son could of easily been on one of those ill fated planes.I really feel for all of those families.

I was asleep. I woke up about 1:00. I signed onto AIM and a friend was telling me there was an attack on New York and I didn't believe him. It wasn't until like an hr later that I finally gave in and turned on the TV.

I can be stubborn sometimes.

Sleeping, I got a call from my job telling me that work was canceled because of what happened. When I turned on the TV, I was terrified at what I was watching. What a horrible day that was. I hope we never have a day like that again.
