All Americans don't think that - just the uneducated ones who have never left the country and/or the uneducated ones who went to France and made no effort to learn anything about the culture or to speak the language.

I don't think the French hate us and I certainly don't hate the French. I had a blast when I was in France and didn't have any problems whatsoever.

Did you ever read anything in the newspaper about America written by a Frenchman ? In the back of their minds , the French know that America fought hard to take France from the Germans , and return it to the French. This feeling of indebtedness , and the knowledge that the French did very little to help free their country , makes for a feeling of inferiority that they hide with bravado .

I was treated very nicely in France, I can't wait to take my wife there. But why, they saw a french person saying unflattering things about the US on TV, then they took that to its "logical" conclusion, all French people hate the US. TV and Americans don't always benefit each other.

You hear different stories about some French people acting rude when U.S. goes to visit. The most common thing I hear is "if you try to speak their language, they are much more accommodating". Is that true? I've never been to France but I really look forward to visiting your country one of these days!

It is not serious! It is just rivalry that continues as part of industrial competition and the fact that Nelson and Napoleon combated one another a long time ago. . . .therefore anything offspring from English is supposed to be taboo.
We all like the French and their culture.
