It just seems sad to me that candides are out begging for and spending money to overwelm the electorate with advertisements. Just seems wrong...........

You're absolutely right. But unfortunately, it is impossible to get well-known & your point across without media advertising & especially on a national level, it's very expensive. One way to change that would be for government to mandate a specified & equal amount of free ads for all candidates & then they'd be allowed no other means, even using their own money. But then, that would be considered socialism, and we wouldn't want that, would we?

My vote is not so cheap that someone can buy it thanks to their political ads on TV or anything else.

It's all about how they stand on the issues, and I don't rely on their prettily packaged sound bytes to get that information.

If you read Freakanomics you'll find they did a study that money spent had little to do with the results. If you're liked, you're liked..If not, money does not seem to bend the results..
