When I was young (many moons ago) I was walking my baby girl in a stroller and we walked by a mom and her (ummm) 3 year old son. I overheard the kid say, "Mommy, did you see that baby? It looked like a MONKEY!" Well obviously, I was devastated. Hurt beyond words. I will happily announce that my daughter is now 42 years old, happily married and very attractive.
Have you ever seen a baby SO ugly, it was one of the cutest babies you ever saw? Any stories out there or am I the only one?

Well, Jesse, You might be right but until the government bans childbirth, I think we're stuck with babies! HAH! So there!

There is no such thing as an ugly baby, in my eyes. Of course you were devastated but a three year old sees things in a different light than adults do.

OK, time for truth: My first born looked like Eddie Munster when I first saw him...every nurse, everyone kept saying what a beautiful baby! His forehead was slanted back, had a hair line that came to a point in the center of his sloping forehead..I though I had sired an idiot! But, within a week, the head changed shape (birth canal warp, so I am told), and trust me, he was a model looking baby...so never judge a newborn ...boy do they change!
My nephew looked like a monkey baby with ORANGE hair..now that was an ugly baby! But his personality was wonderful, he grew up into a very handsome teen, is very athletic, goes to college on a scholarship for basketball...and he is delightful to be around. Again, ugly babies can grow into handsome people, believe it or not. Unfortunately, some of those things we consider handsome ...angular faces, etc., can become too extreme as the child grows, and give a homely person from a very pretty baby...ya just never know. But does it really make a difference? Sooner or later, it is what is inside that matters, all the looks in the world cannot make up for a nasty, conceited inside!

One girl I knew had the ugliest baby, ever. He looked exactly like an elderly person might look if the person were blind, helpless, and over 120 years old.

I mean, ugly. No way did I want to ooo and aaahhh over that little thing.

A friend of mine was babysitting this child for that girl. My friend saw that the poor thing had "cradle cap" so she took out the baby oil and the baby hair brush. Got rid of all those flakes. And the ugly baby's Mom was furious over that. She thought the sitter had felt she wasn't taking care of him properly.

I've sometimes wondered how the child looked at an older age. He'd be somewhere around 45 or so, now.

OK, you baited me on this. As a parent and grandparent I have to admit something. I don't see newborns as being pretty. I was there to see 3 of my kids being born. Sorry, but.........
I feel that babies are at their prettiest or cutest once they get over the first six months. And they stay cute right up till they enter school. Then you begin to see some of there natural features step in.

When I was in labor, my nurse told me that I was going to have a beautiful baby girl with lots of hair. When it was all over, I had a boy that was bald and had ugly red splotches all over him. If it hadn't hurt so bad, I would have them put it back! My roommate's baby was also a boy and so beautiful that it made me want to trade! Years later, I ran across this same woman and her son and was so happy I hadn't traded as my son was more handsome than hers. lol So the moral of the story is good things happen to those who wait!

My poor sister in law had EXACTLY the same experience. Her first born was described as a monkey also. She was so upset she cried and cried. I laughed because I could only agree. I didnt laugh in front of her tho. It wasnt very nice of me I must admit. My kids were soooo beautiful and her's werent.
She went on to have 4 more so it didnt stop her. LOL They grew up just fine.

This one is somewhat similar. My husband's sister had one of the most beautiful little girls. Of course everyone was always commenting on her looks. One day in a supermarket my husband came up behind his sister and her little girl and said in a very loud voice, "My, what an ugly child!". His sister laughed so hard because she knew he didn't mean it. The awful stares and comments he got from other people around were something he and his sister laughed about for years.
I hope this doesn't offend anyone. Thanks for asking the question.

Many moons ago my sister was babysitting and she was telling me over the phone that it was one ugly baby. She kept calling it Yoda Baby because it looked like Yoda. I kept telling her that wasn't nice. I could hear that baby laugh hard whenever she called him that. A couple of days later she showed me a picture of, yep, Yoda Baby. I've never seen another baby like it.
