So, the KJV is not the greatest translation. What's the manuscript evidence for the insertion of "Jehovah" in the Christian Greek Scriptures? Zero, possibly? Even Jason BeDuhn, oft-quoted by Watchtowerites in their pro-NWT argumentation, admits that the Divine Name DOES NOT belong there. If God will curse those who have messed around with just one book, what will His judgement be upon those who have inserted "Jehovah" where it does not belong, some 237 times? Where's the historical evidence for the alleged removal of "Jehovah" from the NT, since surely such a massive operation would not have gone unnoticed and unrecorded? Guess what? There is none. Yet more speculation on the part of Arian Big Brother. Regarding the Alpha and the Omega, Revelation 22:13 clearly shows that the Lord Jesus applied the title TO HIMSELF, despite the Watchtower's almost embarrasing attempt to explain this away, at the expense of the flow of the passage. Who is "coming quickly" in verse 12, which immediately precedes verse 13? Who is "coming quickly" in verse 20? You do the math.

Looks like claudiacake gave you the answer you need.
Interestingly enough, "Apocalypse" in Greek also means disclosure. It is a term applied to the disclosure of something to certain, privileged persons that is hidden from the masses.

I don't know the actual origin. but based on observation....
I would interpret the origin of revelation to be:
To embrace darkness as the light, to chose ignorance as intelligence.
