Try to imagine you're yet to be born, and you're allowed to pick up a body to live into. However, you cannot have a perfect able body, only one between two:

Body 1: A quite ugly one. You'll never be graceful, neither pretty. But, you'll have a lovely voce, lots of languages knowledge and if no one would ever look at you, everyone would like to talk with you of everything you'll have to say. You'll live as an ugly maiden with a charming voice.
Body 2:The hottest, loveliest, sexiest woman who walked on Earth. Graceful, walking like a goddess on gorgeous legs, with eyes that makes men melt inside, praised as a living wonder, a pretty face, curvy and feminine body, luscious and lovely face, even in old age. Alas, you'll be born unable to hear and speak anything 'till you die, always relying on your now gorgeous body language, unable forever to voice your thoughts or hear any sound, a silent work of art, perfect but in a soundless world.

Which one you'ld choose? Why (in detail)?

Body 1: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And even if you have such low self-esteem because of the way you look, there is always plastic surgery. Besides, personality and the type of person you are are more important than looks.

Body 2: Just because you are deaf and dumb does not mean you can't communicate. You would just learn sign language and be able to communicate that way. Like I said, personality and the type of person you are are more important than looks.

The funny thing is I am #1. I was a cute child but then had an accident that left my nose crooked and a huge scar through my lip. I went on to develop cystic acne that even after I had taken Accutane and been "cured" left me with a lot of acne scars. I suffered for years because of my "ugly duckling" syndrome, even choosing an abusive first husband because I didn't think anyone else would love me. But eventually those emotional wounds healed. I came out on the other side very confident of who I am and knowledgeable in many areas because of the time I had spent in solitude reading my books who were my best friends.

I really am convinced that beauty is in the eye of beholder because I have had men tell me that I was the most beautiful woman they have ever known. I know I am not physically beautiful, but that is okay with me now. I like who I am and wouldn't change a thing about my life.

Your question reminds me of two people who generally fit the two choices:

1. A friend of mine is a DJ at a local radio station. He has a great voice. It’s deep and clear, and sexy. Alas, he is not much to look at. Really, really not much to look at. He dates here and there, but at 58 years old, he hasn’t been married in a long, long time. He also doesn’t have many long term relationships.

2. The second choice you give reminds me of Margaux Hemingway. She was an exceptionally beautiful woman with all the features you described. However, her voice was nasal and whiny, which explains why, given her beauty and her heritage, she never really made it as an actress. Her sister Mariel must have taken voice lessons, because she has overcome her nasal voice, and is a beautiful actress with a great voice.

If I had to choose, I would choose the second, but not for vanity reasons. I could learn sign language (I know some already), and I could communicate in that fashion.

I would always choose my voice. A beautiful face will not make you beautiful if there is ugly behind it. The voice ages better than the face will, and it is your voice that lets you be heard when you have something to say, or even to shout when you need to. Being attractive to look at still won't make you really beautiful if you're a shallow skank. Lots of unattractive people with great personalities often get married - even to hotties.

I would choose voice, even though i would be judged because I am ugly at least i would have knowledge and be able to give something back. If I were the hottest, blah blah I wouldnt be able to really give anything back other than my looks which i would once again be judged.

two easily! i would hate to look bad (i know that sounds terible but im just being honest!)

it was hard for me since communication is my favourite thing! and i love speaking different languages but id willingly give that up because i know sign language so its not like i wouldnt be able to communicate at all.

if i ever ended up like the first one that would be the biggest disapointment! the way i present myself means so much i dont know what id do if i looked terible!

just because you cant see or hear doesnt mean you cant be intelligant, sign language is probably the most fun language i have ever learnt and everyday im learning more, i love doing it but the only downside would be that not everyone can sign so thats a bummer

good question! hope this helps :)

Id say voice, because if i have the brain, i'll be able to get my way around everything i want. And the only reason people really want to go for beauty is for social acceptance. If you are smart and know how to get your way around what you want, then beauty won't be an issue, cause you will know how to gain social acceptance. Good luck

I would opt for a voice and ability to hear what "sound" is. Sound is such a pleasing sense and it's forever in your scenario. There's beauty to be found in sounds.

I love music and communicating with people, so I'd have to choose number 2. Besides, I would never accept a man who loves me only for my body.
