Windows Vista is a powerhouse OS, it runs on a 32 bit system instead of a 16 bit (like XP or MAC X). Your Hard drive is fine, and 1 GB of RAM is suggested, but your concern should be about your CPU. A lower end dual core, or even a fast single core should run it fine.

Other than me and probably a few others telling you to stay away from Vista .. yes, that is enough.

And what do you mean the computer came with Vista but its not installing? Cause I know Microsoft came out with a Vista upgrade..

1gb ram and 80 gb hdd should be enough. You will need a video adapter a display monitor pointing device as in a mouse a keyboard.Guess those are minimum requirments.
Are you trying to do a fresh install or an upgrade?

Go to microsoft.com and run the "Vista Compatibility" checker that they have there. It will check not just the memory and hard drive, but the proccessor, video, audio, etc. and let you know if Vista will work.
