Is it OK to wear knee high boots with a skirt to work at an office?

Question

Obviously it's not a short skirt, it goes down to my knees and the boots go a little below the knees. I wear this almost anywhere else, I'm just not sure if it's apropriate for the office. I'm young and I work with a lot of older people so I've never seen anyone else here wear them. Only answer if you actually know something about working in an office.

I realize maybe the type of boots make a difference. The ones I have are not very high, about 2 inches and they have more of a square toe not pointy.

That look is very office appropriate if done correctly. Wear pretty leather boots that are "office-esque" and not well.. you know... "trashy." The boots should hit somewhere below the knee but cover the calf and the skirt should be about knee length or so (which is sounds like yours is). It would help if you had a jacket that matched your skirt in suit sort of way - it looks really put together. I work with old people, too so I always make sure that I do this look tastefully and in the right season (late fall for where I live).

I think it depends the rules and regulations from your office and well for me I'll would rather say it's an appropriate of your outfit to combined it the knee high boots and usually some ladies were wearing the close shoes with heels when they working in the office and it's ok when we will wearing a pants with matching the boots and for the wearing the skirt it's big no no

You know what skirts look trashy and which don't. The thing is you can WORK ANY shoe with the right outfit, a knee lenght skirt, a button down shirt a jacket, your boots and you look amazing, now a short skirt, knee lenght boots... No girl.. Not right at all

I've been told by a business etiquette coach that boots (except possibly ankle boots) are not appropriate business attire. If you wear them, it should not be obvious that they are boots, and therefore should be covered by pants or entirely by the skirt.

Just look at what your bosses and senior management wears----and follow suit. That's always the best way to be on the safe side. Think about it in this context: if you ran into the CEO/President of your company wearing those boots and skirt, would you be comfortable with your attire?

depending on your office environment, I would say yes that it would be OK. That style would be totally fine in my office. I generally wear my knee high wedge boots and my flat boots with skirts. both long skirts and knee length skirts in the winter all the time. I do tend to wear tights in the same shade as the boot.

So I think you are fine.

It really does depend on the standards of the office..
But also you should match the boots w/ the skirt... and ONLY boots w/ heels can be possibly wear on an office...

I'm sure it would be fine. Might not be very comfortable to wear them all day though, especially if you are sitting down a lot, but you could take some shoes to change into when you get there.

As a Systems Engineer working in a conservative office, I know that older folks like to talk. Something like that would be appropriate anywhere, but the office is kinda iffy. I would avoid it if your office is conservative.

ok I know exactly what you are going through... I am the same way but my husband said he dont think its a good idea.. however.. fridays are dress down days so if your job have those then wear it on dress down day if not then change them after work or something..... the things us women have to go through :-)
