okay hun hope you are in for a long and expensive legal process. You should have had him come over here on a vistors visa and married him in the states then applied for a change of status. As it is now you will need to file three petions. Its really complicated if you want email me I've done this myself
being married is not an automatic okay!!!!
You will need to inform your parents there is a strict income requirment, and you have to have two years of taxes showing you meet it. Listen it is truely long and involved and cost my husband and I a good deal of money and year of our lives. You're going to run into a problem having been separated for a year

No for so many reasons. 1. Your only almost 18, and have so much life to live before you get married. you will change so much over the next 5 years of your life and you may not like the person he grows into. 2. He is going to be a Marine. No offense to our Marines, but the military, especially the marines feels that if they wanted you to have a wife they would issue you one. expect to be alone, a lot. he will probably be on tour to the middle east on a 7 month rotations. 7 months tour, 7 months home. And in those 7 months he's home he is still likely to be in the field for a few weeks at a time. This is not healthy for a newly wed couple especially when you are so young. This would be hard on a couple that had been together for 10 years. 3. You have only been together for 11 months. That is not long enough to determine at your age if you are compatible as a married couple. There is a big difference between boyfriend and husband. That's not long enough at any age to really get to know someone enough for marriage. Enjoy your youth. Hell if I married my boyfriend I had that I thought I was so in love with at 18 I would be miserable. We are such different people now.

I'm Dominican.
Has he ever been issued a visa to come ot the states? If that happens, he will get his citizenship really fast.
If not, you can write a letter to the Dominican consulate saying you are 'sponsoring him' and they may give him a visa.
How did you guys get married? Did you do it in DR?
And wow, you married YOUNG, girl!

That appears to be an issue the two of you should've researched thoroughly before saying "I do"...I don't know what it takes to get a non-citizen into the country legally (long term) but I don't think I'd marry a non-citizen before knowing how we could accomplish that.
You're quite young to be married...I hope things work out and you don't have the typical "what did I miss out on" regrets that are common to so many who marry before their mid-20s.

You're right. You have to have a job if you want your husband to be with you. Better still, finish your studies first. How do you suppose you can live a married life in your situation? Do you think you can just live on love alone? Girl, you have to assess your situation before you mess up your life any further.

Get a job first they apply to visa for him to come to the US. It a process but you can do it. Go into the INS website http://www.uscis.gov to get more info on what you'll need. If your already married then your OK. You will need to prove to that you have been supporting him during the time that you have been married. Also you need to visit with him and take pictures as proof.

Why did you ever marry him? Love or to get him here? If it was just to get him here then sorry - that is not legal.

Wow, you're only 18 and it sounds like your life is way more screwed up now then I want mine to ever be! I'm 26 and been with my bf for almost 5 years and we don't know that we will ever get married, as we feel it is just a piece of paper that says "I love you". I can tell him that every day for eternity with out having to marry him.
