I think somehow weird people are smart or at least a little bit more humorous than the so called "normal" people. Also, I think there is two ways you can be weird, either in a good way or in a bad way. The latter one probably means that you're just acting weird or you have weird obsessions which I think isn't healthy. To be weird in a positive or in a good way means that you stand out and have something that truly makes you more exceptional than others (CREATIVITY). Well that's my theory - what do you think?

You almost got it right...the fact is that smart people tend to be weird.

Honestly how could you have all that information and electrons floating around in your head and not be a little neurotic. Also, as a smart person myself, I get told that I am weird from time to time because of the things that I know or like to do in my spare time or how I think about things.

I also agree that there is positive weird and negative weird and to that I say there is a thin line that anyone can cross.

Smart people could display the characteristic of being eccentric but not always the other way round. Some deliberately choose to be eccentric because they do not want to divulge to others their plans so in this case, they are more unwilling to share, suspicious, cautious and cunning rather than weird.

My older sister was "weird" she was the only girl in high school who took up drumming and she would write "strange' poems sort of like John Lennon. If fact they had the same birthday.
She had an I.Q. of 145.She could never keep a boyfriend because she was too smart for most guys and got bored with them.
One bought her a brand new BMW back in the late 1970's, she told him to stick it up his butt because she loved her beat up VW.That sounds "weird" to me.She never let money rule what she wanted to do, she was a real "freebird."

"weird" is often credited to some form of Autism (Dyspraxia, Aspergers, take your pick) due to the most obvious symptom of poor social skills, however only those with high stage Autism are ever actually much smarter than "Normal people"

(I have high stage Aspergers, my IQ putting me in the top 10% of humanity)

i have asperger's syndrome, and i like to think I look normal, but I have quirks. I am wierd! I am creative, too, but i have a few quirks that tell people I am not all ok. It is all healthy, but the one quirk I have that isn't, is I am too much of a loner.

I think it would be more accurate to say that smart people are usually "wierd". A person gets too smart, they are often regarded as a "little left of center".

However, there are some wierd people who are dumb as rocks,.
