Find a mantra like "the past is in the past" or something similar to repeat to anyone who brings up your past. Practice saying it calmly over and over again. Start saying it calmly to anyone who brings up your past and repeat it over and over until they give up and talk about something else. You could also try "this subject is no longer open for discussion" or "I don't wish to discuss this issue, let's find something else to talk about". It's important to be consistent and calm about this until your friends and family give up.

That is part of life dear one and the only way to get away from it is to keep proving again and again that your life lesson was learned. Human nature dictates that people will always bring up the past.... There are things that you are still doing that remind them of past behaviors. Just keep plugging along wiht all of your new knowledge and lessons learned and people will start to think of you when a different subject comes up, not just the negative one. Hope this helps.

I hate it when people try to use something against me. Try just saying, "the past is called the PAST for a reason." You may have to repeat this many times before people get the idea that they will not get to you by bringing up the past, but be persistant and keep saying that and it will eventually work for you.
