My two orchids have new growth. Is it time to repot? If so, do I use the same size pot or go a size bigger? I am very excited about this as I have tried unsuccessfully for years to care for orchids. Hoping to get some expert advice!

Orchids are very tender plants. They only need to be repotted once a year. And you always use a pot that is just slightly bigger than the last you had. Just because there is new growth does not mean you need to replant. You replant when all the nutrients are gone from the existing soil/mulch mixture. If you don't understand what I mean, you may want to get an orchid book. Check out the site below. Its simple and easy. Or just do a source check by looking up repotting orchids. There are some really good sites out and about. Happy planting!!

Yes. I don't know what to tell you. Orchids do not grow in soil, they grow in the crooks of trees, they live off of moisture their roots gather in the air. The main question would be, why do you want to repot? What is your reason to do so? If you can't come up with one, don't. There are certain times you can do this. If you do it the wrong time, dead plant. I had an orchid I grew from tiny to flowering, it was magnificent, after flowering, I repotted, it died. I have pictures though. Again I don't know what to tell you. I grow a bunch and hope for the best. I have very spotty results on re-potting.

I agree with Victoria. Many people think orchids need to be placed in bigger pots when they see the rootball curling around. This is not true. Reading up on orchid care will give you the knowledge to have happy plants and a sucessful growing experience.
