Good old pro tools.. that program is huge.
Cut out your system processes and close some programs before you use it. Pro Tools is a program that needs your computers full concentration when in use. I dont really recommend using anything else at all (including whats in the taskbar) while that program is running.

Pro tools is big, and needs mucho resources.
I run 20 Desktop environments, with upto 200 open windows in each.
OH! you're NOT running http://www.mepis.org or any of the Linux OSes, or a Mac!
Yes, Windows can really load up, what with the 9 applications needed just to hopefully delay the inevitable crash of the million Microsoft virus,Trojan, malware, exploits extortion plan from the Evil Empire of greed.
Really, make sure you have tons of RAM, and a true 64 bit system that can actually read and write more than 1 GB of it.

Seems a strange "problem". What is meant by CPU load too much?
If it means CPU usage (as in task manager, performance), then there is not much you can do, it will work as hard as it needs to, to run what you have asked it to run.
Possibly ensuring virtual memory is set at a start value of a minimum of 1.5 times memory size and defrag the disk could reduce the load.

Only run apps you need - many programs put themselves in your startup - like scanners, printers, calendar programs, even card making programs will automatically start themselves with windows and eat CPU cycles. They do this so *if* you launch their program, they launch in 5 seconds instead of 15. I personally prefer not to have them running until I need them - and save my CPU cycles for what I'm actually working on.
Go to Start - MSCONFIG - OK and to the Startup tab to see everything that is launching itself with every windows session. Uncheck what you don't want. Click Apply and OK. Restart Windows to make the changes take effect.

Too much applications is running on your system.
Try to turn off services that you dont need at startup.
For example turn off auto log in from yahoo, msn, and aim.
turn off winamp agent,
turn off quicktime
i dont know what program you are using...
so you need to find out what you dont need and disable those programs.
What kind of antivirus are you using?
Norton take up alot of cpu usage...
switch to other Antivirus.
are u using xp or vista.
do a search in yahoo " how to make xp or vista run faster" they will have a lot of sites where they teach you have to disable it.
good luck.
