The answer to your question lies in the replies you have received.
NOT ONE reply to your question has stated any factual information regarding the case. In fact, the only thing that has been given here is a repeat of news stories that have presented each side's interpretation of the events as they saw them, not what actually happened.
I have been contacted to represent one party in the case and have declined. Not because I feel the person is guilty or innocent but because no one knows the truth about what happened.
As to the poster who considered the hanging of the nooses a 'hate crime' please explain why the black principal admitted the students (both black and white) considered it a joke and used the nooses as swings on which to play.
To those of you who feel the people who hung the noose think there was no punishment, there was appropriate punishment including suspension and a one-month removal of the offending students.
And to those of you who feel this is a racial issue, I suggest you look back at Tulsa circa 1921 and learn a little about history. This is student violence. Nothing more or less.
AND TO MUNEY:
I suggest if you are going to post a link, you make sure it reveals the facts as they happened. Jena is an easy drive from anywhere in the midwest. your post is self-serving at best and does not reflect the history of racial tension in the area nor the true facts as discovered by responsible journalists and the FBI.

Some people think hanging a noose in a tree is a crime and should be punished by the justice system, it is not. It is however wrong morally and the kids should have been dealt with by the school and their parents. The kids who beat up the other kid committed a crime and should be punished by the court system, however the way they were originally charged and dealt was too harsh. Al Sharpton is not confused, he is just using this for his own publicity and once again is making something bigger than it is. Like I said before, the white kids were wrong, the black kids were wrong, the parents on both sides are partially to blame and the school board and DA's office made mistakes. They all need to accept their responsibility.

i recognize mine isn't the universal answer, yet needless to say you at the instant are not too familiar with Mellencamp's paintings. He has many songs that cope with the social subject concerns around the country and the globe. The song Rain on the Scarecrow describes the plight of the family contributors farmer. Ever heard of Farm help? he's between the founders and a universal performer. some greater examples in his songs: Love and Happiness: war, poverty Jackie Brown- Poverty Rodeo Clown- war Cuttin Heads- Racism non violent international- Racism walk Tall- prejudice Jim Crow- Racism Rural direction- Crystal Meth epidemic i'm particular if he's in a position to make some money off of his new album he will no longer be crying approximately it, yet did he %. this concern out of the air for that sole rationale? i think of no longer. yet another ingredient approximately Mellencamp, he says what's on his recommendations and relatively does not provide a crap what anybody else thinks. i could no longer believe all of his perspectives, yet I ought to understand him for that.

It's the media hype. While I do not believe there isn't "some" law about hanging the nooses, this is a seperate crime. If Sharpton and Jackson were not there, it would go on as it should, looking only at the crime and not the race on either side.

Your question should have been this
Q;How many people dose it take to beat up a WHITE guy?
A; Apperantly 5 or 6. I watch the news also.
why aint it one on one EVER.
I beleive the guy shoulda had his *** kicked, by one guy and thats it.
WHITE people if you have not told your kids that makeing and or hanging a noose anywhere is wrong maybe the noose should be used on YOU>
Black people if you have not taught your kids to never gang up on any one, maybe you need a gang of thugs to kick the crap outta YOU>
personally I cant wait till I am the only HUMAN left. so i dont gotta hear the BS no more.
SO i can walk with the animals ,talk with the animals........

Exactly what I would say. People think it matters what someone may have done to trigger this violent attack, it doesn't! As you have said, these people committed a felony and should be sent to prison.
The same laws that say they must be punished COULD have prevented them from being punished. They apparently ''saw'' something that angered them. At that point (if what angered them was illegal) they COULD have contacted the police.
There is no excuse for the behavior of these ''thugs'' and they should be prosecuted accordingly.

Whoever hung the nooses should be punished, but you are right about the victim and alleged perpetrators.

I do not think there should be a march for a person who hung nooses around a tree that black kids hung out under or his like-minded friend(s).

It would appear that you have been brainwashed by some racist that has you very confused.
If the guy that got beat up couldn't take the heat he should have stayed out of the kitchen instead of threatening the lives of anybody by hanging nooses on that tree.
By the way, Lil' me, black kids did not hang out under the shade of that tree.
The white students hung out, under the shade of that tree and warned the black students that this was a "white only" tree, and that if they dared to hang out by the tree they would be killed.
The white students threatedned to kill the black students which is a crime that went un-punished by the local authorities.
When the black students stood up for their rights, the guy that got beat up and his thug friends hung nooses from the tree, thus threatening the black students with their lives.
Bad boys get beat up.
That's all there is to it.
Send those racist kids to prison, where they belong, instead of picking on a handful of young black students.

Its called "reverse racisim". simple. I feel the majority of the black community want to blame the white community for their woes. And the "Black Racist Pimps" like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the like are always pumping it up.They don't take it in to fact that it was a WHITE kid that was the VICTIM. They like to look back to the 40's and 50's when it was a struggle for them, but in today's society it's very different. I am white - my wonderful son-in-law is black - and he feels the same way. If you are black, and don't have a medical disability, and you don't get an education and don't get a job, and don't get to that job on time and regularly, and you wear your pants down around your knees, and don't speak recognizable english, and have 5 kids out of wed lock, then its YOUR OWN FAULT that you don't do well.
I have to agree with him. Our daughter and he are raising our grandson in a stable family enviorment, with lots of love, and focusing on faith, education, sports, reading and fun.. (he loves to go fishing, something his grandfather and I got him "Hooked" on.
If these "racisim pimps" could focus more on teaching family values, community responsibility and self esteem/responsibility, maybe that would go much futher in helping the youth learn to take their future into their own hands.
