Hired private apartment in Mallorca. The apartment had many faults and we suffered several calls form estate agents all who had keys to get into property to show potential buyers around. Contacted owner who then said it was acceptable behaviour. It totally ruined our holiday. Please advise on how I can get some form of compensation. At no point were we told that the apartment was up for sale by the owner.

One of the reasons that things are so cheap in Spain is the minimal intrusion by government. Basically that means that there is little you can do to force any compensation unless the owner is willing to offer any.

If you let this ruin your holiday, you have only yourself to blame. All you had to do was say "NO!" and close the door.

If having to do that "ruins" your holiday, try Butlins next year.

Unfortunately, if it was a private apartment, unless you actually used an agent to book the holiday, I don't think there's any other alternative other than to contact a solicitor to act on your behalf to claim some form of compensation. at least with an agent, you have a go-between to deal with this sort of problem for you.

good luck!!

You dont have any legal right to compensation and it seems the person you rented from is not interested in your plight anyway. I think you may have to move on from this and think carefully about a private let next holiday. Just put it down to experience.

It's not THIER fault you let this ruin your vacation. You could have simply told the realtor which times were best for you to show the place - when you'd be out sightseeing, etc.
If you chose to let it get to you, then you ruined your vacation all on your own.
