The press said that Maryland would be a big test for the WVU defense to see if they're legit. Well, they shut down the terps and dropped one spot in the rankings. By the way, WVU started the season at No. 3.

I think coming into the season people were concerned that Florida might take a step back after losing Leak who was a 3 or 4 year starter. But Tebow has been even better than leak was when they won the national title. But, honestly does it matter in week 5? Florida is going to play LSU meaning WV is at least really #4.

West Virginia is the pretender out of the top five. Tulsa or Miami would smash ECU, and Oklahoma beat those guys by 100 points. The Mountaineers are a good team, but they don't stack up to Florida, LSU, OU, or USC.

The real question is why is Florida not ranked as number one. They are the defending national champion and until you are beaten such a team should be at the top or that is how it used to be. The polls these days are so bogus it is not even funny.

Florida is ranked higher than W. Virginia because Florida is a better team and would kick their booty if the two teams played each other.

The Gators are in the SEC with a much harder schedule. They beat Tennessee, who was a ranked team at the time. Also, WV has been inconsistent over the last few years.

I'm a WVU alum, but even I realize that Florida has had more impressive wins this year than the Mounties.

UF plays in a tougher conferense with six ranked teams, beat down a ranked Tennessee Volunteers team, and is the defending champions. That's why.
