I am 33 weeks pregnant with our first (and miracle) baby. The past month, I have been experiencing excruciating pain at night, running underneath the fullest part of my belly, down under my crotch, and inside my legs. When I get up to use the bathroom or go to roll over, it literally feels like I'm frozen up because it's so intense. As if someone has contracted some huge muscle in that region, incapcitating me from movement and causing it to shoot stabbing pain.
Is this round ligament pain?? And if so, why would it be happening at night when I'm resting, instead of during the day when I'm active?

I know your pain all too well. I have it so bad I end up on the floor and my husband has to help me to the bathroom at night. I recommend tylonol, doesn't help much but a bit. You need to get a pregnancy belt to wear during the day, it will make a difference when you have to get up at night. This pain takes my breathe away and coughing really sucks. The vaginal pain if part of it as well. Night is the worse. Good luck and stick it out. I am 37 1/2 weeks and mine has been so bad my doctor is going to let me go at 39 weeks to get this done, I can't function well due to no sleep from pain. Good luck and congrats.

You might be a little low on potassium too causing some charlie horse like pain. I get them at night too. As long as it doesnt come in waves, like contractions, only when you move, its probably those ligaments adjusting to your growing belly.

Have a banana and big glass of water before bed.

Call your doctor if you are concerned.

Its more common when you're been laying, the weight of the uterus pulls against that tendon and ligament and causes it to hurt when you move next. With any muscle or tendon the more you move the less it hurts, as its better able to stretch.

What you have is totally and completely normal for pregnancy. It will more likely than not become more intense as you get bigger. Its totally normal.

It sounds like round ligament pain. And you're right, it should be when you're active. But you know what, damn near everything that's happened to me during this pregnancy did NOT happen like everyone said it would. During the peek of my ligament pain, I would be lying in bed and out of no where it would strike. If it gets more intense, inform your doc.

I get the exact same feeling. I'll be laying down and it'll strike, almost like a charlie horse! lol. I'm 37 weeks and my baby hasn't dropped yet, so I think he's taking his time and that's what's causing the discomfort.
