my mum's birthday comes in 2 days' time. she's 48 this year, loves pigs (but she's got loads of figurines and pig stuffs we got for her), loves beautiful things like a typical woman

and we always get her some store-bought gift tgt with a gift card we make, but this year we want to do something different. i want to make a nice gift for her.. it's either this, or i go and buy a hamper with assorted bath stuff like soaps, aromatic oils etc. but those kind of hampers are too commercialised! i want something more personal..

any ideas?

PS: oh yea, i'm 19 btw, so i shld be able to do most stuff, only except those with very difficult to find items or those that require tools i dont have eg for making mosaic mirrors/lamp shades

um, I think the best would be to make a board, and cut and put on the board, parts of many photos , collected photos over the years.. great time flash back and a really valuable gift to keep.. Your mom would love it..if you're interested..

Quick and easy craft that she will use for EVER in the winter months!!

Fleece tie throws...takes about 1 1/2 hrs or so. NOW SEWING required!

Go to Fabric Store or Walmart and pick out 2 pieces of coordinating fleece material 2 yards of each. Should cost you about $25, or that's approx what it costs here in East Texas.

Anyway, take your material and a pair of scissors and find a nice flat workspace.
Begin by matching up and laying the materials flat one on top of the other. Cut a 4" by 4" square out of the very corner of all 4 corners of the material layers.
Next, you will cut slits in the material all the way around. Begin at one corner where you're removed the square and go over about 1" and cut a slit from the edge of the fabric about 4" (or I just cut 2 scissor closures)....do this all the way around until you have a bunch of little slits around the entire edge of your fabric that are about 1" wide.

Once you've cut all of the strips begin tying them together. Really any way you like....I always keep them together and pull them into a knot (wrap the strip around your first 2 fingers and stick the end through at the top of the loop, then pull through to the bottom...if that makes since to you)

This is a very simple project, and doesn't require a pattern if you are crafty. But I found a pattern if you'd like one to look at and go by...

Good luck on your Gift!!

Hugs, Kisses, and sweet nothings. I think I stole the idea from Oprah. Get three small boxes in decreasing size. In the biggest box, put Hershey's kisses, In the second biggest put Hershey's hugs. In the smallest box, write sweet nothings on small pieces of paper. Things like, short anecdotes, quotes, jokes, thankyou's, or anything else that would make your mom smile. Then, any time she has a bad day, she can open the box's to enjoy a sweet treat and a warm fuzzy feeling. Decorate the boxes any way you like. This is quick and thoughtful.

Two days isn't very much time. Do you have a sewing machine? Tote bags are quick and easy to make.

Or you could get some fimo or sculpey clay and design your own pig figurine for her. But only if she enjoys one of a kind things.

I think the girl would love it. Its special and different and really sweet and girls love sweet little acts like that. Ok my crazy idea is that you should make her some draws or shelves and then all over print it in uberly kl pics. Like just cover it in pics

I'd just make a day for her... bring her breakfast in bed, take her shopping or to a movie, then either make dinner for her or take her out to dinner. Make it so that she doesn't have to lift a finger all day long.
