I talked to my doctor about this because I kept panicing because I would wake up each morning on my back. She said that sleeping on your back is fine but you will prob just not want to later when you get real big because it is uncomfortable. Either side is fine but yes left is better because there is something in your right side that when you sleep on it it hinders circulation and drainage of fluid so resulting in a very SLIGHT chance of edema (swelling in the feet and legs). I sleep on my right side all the time. You should be fine.

Most people say it's bad to lay on your back, but this is actually a myth, I've also heard left side is best and luckily I'm comfy on my left side, but I don't worry too much if I decide to sleep on my right side. As for the stomach, baby kicks like crazy if I happen to roll over onto my stomach so that's not an option. Don't worry too much about sleeping positions and if you're really not sure ask your doc or midwife.

Well I am the same way the doctor say the best position is the left side. And i am the same way I prefer to lay on my right side when I go to sleep. and before when i wasn't pregnant I hated to sleep on my back but now that the comfortable way for me to fall asleep. But if u do lay on your back you don't suppose to lay on it no more than 4 minutes it depends on how far along you are. But now that I am bout to be 6 months they said as long as I am comfortable but not on yoour back because all the pressure you have and weight(uterus) can crush the made blood flow to your baby and etc.

You can lay and sleep anyway that is comfortable. There is no wrong way. You will not starve the baby of oxygen, your own limbs will fall asleep and you'll roll over before it even effects the baby.

I had the same concerns when pregnant, an asked a slew of doctors, midwives, and maternity nurses, all gave me the same answer. SLEEP, dont worry about how.

Last time i was pregnant with my twins, i used to lay in the most strangest positions!! My partner used to come home and see me laying with my legs over the couch back and sprawled out. What ever makes you comfortable I say!! :)
My friend layed on her belly when she was pregnant. It kind of disturbed me. But her belly wasn't half as big as mine!

laying on your right side is fine.. but DON'T make habits of laying or sleeping on your back for prolonged periods of time.. cuts off blood flow to the baby

As long as you're laying on your sides, it doesn't matter which one. Just stay away from your stomach and back as your pregnancy progresses.
