am very upset. My son is such a good little baby, but over the past month he has not been himself lately. The right side of his face is much larger then the left and his eye is so swollen. I have taken him to 4 different doctors and they all said "we thinks" and "maybes" and noone can tell me anything. They all make it seem normal and like im paranoid. Over the past three days hes actually been vommiting ( not spitting up) 5 + times and hes been very fussy, not like him at all. He had another eye doctor appointment today and his eye looked awful. They spent 10 minutes and took three flash photos (all at the childrens hospital) and told me his eye was swollen (duh) and his lip was droopy (duh) and a bunch of other stuff I already knew. I was sitting holding my son when I heard the docs mention his name and saying that they found a little something in the pictures, but they didnt think that it was that big of a deal to do anything with. This has ben going of for weeks. Help. am i crazy

Hi Honey, I am SO sorry your baby and your family are going through this. You need to be more insistent and demand your baby gets proper diagnose. Usually doctors don't work together but separately, so you need to tell every specialist you go all the symptoms your baby has had, maybe what was not a good clue/detail to one specialist can be to another. I googled all the symptoms you say your baby has and I found this web page http://symptoms.wrongdiagnosis.com/cosymptoms/bells-palsy/eye-symptoms.htm where you can add all the symptoms your baby has had and what could it be. Also do your own research on the Internet, look for pictures, medical pages and stuff like that. In the medical field many cases have been resolved because of the patients themselves, doing research online, cause ironically doctors can't find out what it is. Good luck Hun. **hugs**

I don't know what part of the world you are from, but here in the UK you should be insisting on referral to a specialist. If your doctor won't refer your baby can you just go to the nearest hospital with an accident and emergency facility?

My initial reaction was to think of Bell's Palsy. You need to keep on and keep on until someone does something to find out what's wrong with your baby. Don't give up just b/c the dr says it's nothing. I mean, if you see these signs, then there is something - whether minor or what. You know your baby, and it's also important to remember that drs are human just like the rest of us and are capable of making mistakes.

My prayers are with your son and your family.

that is awful my hearts breaking jus reading this ! have they given him anything to stop the pain or even tried to reduce the swelling ?! i couldnt tell you much on the subject but if he has seen a few doctors and they arent panicing i wouldnt stress(i know its hard) but you know how doctors are they always give you the worst thought when its actually not as bad i would if they were extremely concerned they would do a scan to check all you can really do is comfort your baby ill say a prayer sorry i couldnt give you much advice x

I would keep asking for more tests and referrals to other specialists. It could be a genetic disorder-ask for a referral to a genetics clinic? Has he had any imaging done-CT or MRI to look for any abnormalities? For faster results I agree with the others-go to the emergency department and try your best. As a mother I know how you feel, and I also know how it feels to be treated like the "crazy mom" who is worried about her kids. Good luck :)

Just want you to know that I have said a prayer for God to give the doctor's wisdom soon and for you to find the strength to be able to get through in the mean time. Hang in there.

You're going to have to be more aggressive to get the treatment you want. Take him back to the hospital and insist on an MRI to have his brain checked. Insist on blood work to check his platelets and other counts, dont you dare leave that hospital until you get an answer from someone as to what the issue is.

You have a right to get care for your child, maybe and could be is not good enough. Until they have exhausted all their resources their job is not done. They work for you, its not a favor, and its not because they feel like it. You have to insist on care.

You keep it up with the doctors until you get answers. Good for you for being so proactive. You are right to get second and third opinions and so on until someone can help your son.

You may want to ask one of your doctors about Bell's palsy. I do not know much about the disease, but it couldn't hurt to ask.
