I'll answer the question this way what does Kobe need to get past the 1st round of the playoffs. The reason I answer it this way is as long as Phoenix, Dallas & San Antonio keep their pieces to the puzzle I don't think Kobe & any pieces can win the championship.
Kevin Garnett would have been a great start.
Jermaine O'neal
Shaq
Dwight Howard
some dominating big man in the middle & I don't think they can afford these guys & they missed the boat on Kevin Garnett!!!
Kobe might have to leave the Lakers to get to the 2nd round!!

A good, veteran point guard in the mold of Jason Kidd or a Chauncey Billups.
A reliable (both offensively and defensively) power forward in the mold of Jermaine O'Neal or in lesser extent, Al Jefferson or David West. They can give up the jinx Lamar Odom (and other player, Farmar or Radmanovic or Cook, whatever) to get one.
That's the only pieces missing from Lakers and they got a good, very versatile, tough team.
They got 3 players who can alternately play at center (maybe a combine 20 ppg, 15 rpg) from Mihm, Bynum & Brown is good contribution.
Turiaf and either Cook or Radmanovic (if one of the last two mentioned is traded) to back-up their new power forward, O'Neal or Jefferson maybe?
Walton is a good complimentary at shooting forward, he is versatile, score, rebound, play defense and pass. Evans and Radmanovic can back him up.
Kobe is the team go to guy as always, a little breather is all he need to rest and that's why Lakers took in Coby Karl as Kobe's back up. Vujacic can also play the shooting guard.
Either Derek Fisher and their rookie, Crittenton will surely back-up the Lakers new point guard ansd assume that Farmar is included in the package to get that point guard.

Seriously?
I'll give you a list of guys, none of them all-stars, all role players, all hard-nosed players:
PF Nene
PF/C Etan Thomas
PG Antonio Daniels
PG Jose Calderon
I won't attempt to propose who the Lakers trade to acquire any of these people, but you're free to try.
I suppose Andrei Kirilenko is the closest to an all-star, but I don't think Utah is inclined to deal him to the Lakers, regardless of what they offer.
Because he is an LA guy, the Lakers will want to remain interested spectators in the Baron Davis situation. But again Golden State is not inclined to deal with LA, so this wouldn't be possible until next season.

Like BT said we need a solid center in the post, either Kwame,Chris, or Andrew steps up or we can say goodbye to Kobe and this Lakers franchise.

Well they need a PG, Jason Kidd for Andrew Bynum would have been a good trade for them, but they backed out. But if they got Kidd that would be just one part of the solution, they need a power forward/center that can play defense and score, perhaps Jermaine O'neal? I think with these players Kobe would be even more unstopable....could you imagine? This would be a legit team with a shot at the title....

I think they need a veteran pg (im not talking about fisher) and some good post players. Salary cap is a big twist for them, players like kwame hold 9 mil and cant even score in double figures. They need to be wise in making decision if there willing to pass the 1st round. They definitely lose this off season. so many good players offer to them in exchange with their bench, and they can't even let go of bynum!
Look at what happened to Dallas last season. There good. Consistent from center to pg. But they lost to Golden State, an 8 seed. I don't know how but they manage to beat dallas behind Baron's back and leading the way. An experienced PG and play maker, vs the outstanding lineup dallas could offer, and The better playmaker win.
They need to have a pg who is veteran but isn't that old like fisher.

I think he needs a point guard that he can really count on. I think that they need to get a solid PG with some exspereince and who is not afraid to play. I think Kobe plays best when some one is getting the ball to him. They seem to make it to playoffs but I think that this maybe the piece that they are missing

Kobe Braynt needs a realiable point guard, a center/forward who could dominate inside the paint. Trade Odom, Brown to teams like Jazz to acquire Kirilenko. Kirilenko definitely brings toughness inside the paint and could help make the lakers much stable as a team.
