I used to be trapped in the cycle of earning money. People seek for money. It seems to me that the more people can earn it, the more they are eager to earn it more. I used to live in the capital and I have a lot of expense. I felt very tired because of working hard to earn money for my expense. Until I got sick, I thought that I have to cut off the dependence of using money. I returned to my rural hometown and have planted everything that I eat but I still use some little money. But I feel better than the past. Some of my friends said that I am silly to quit my position and live in the rural area. I however feel that I couldn't happier more than this.

People have a great concern about their retirement. This might be the reason that they cannot stop earning money until they get old.
Then, they spend some not longer years for the rest of their life with the money from the entire life's hardship. For me, this is the description of the harsh of life. However, I realized that sometimes there is no choice for everyone. It might be difficult to return to as the old days of our grandparents'living.

You "plan to stop earning money" when you reach the point in your life to realise that money isnt the most important thing in life.

For me I could say happiness is in higher priority than having a big fat wallet. (That probably explains why I have all these things/ or have done all these things rather than having a healthy balance at the bank)

Am I regretting it? Not one bit... yet. (until something comes that I cannot get or do because I didnt save as much money as I shouldve.) At the end of the day... our time on this world will run out and we cannot take the money with us into the otherside.

it is true, sometimes the more you earn, the more expenses you have, then the more you need to earn
each person has to find what makes them happy, if living rural and using very little money makes you happy, then that is fine
for me, i think what works is a middle of the road approach, i have lived in a larger city, needed more money just for basics, now I live in a small town, my expenses are less, i dont grow my own food, but i watch for sales and try to save money by only eating out for special occasions

You are lucky to have found the natural balance in your life - many people struggle to find this and some never do.

Most people do not enjoy working and only do so in order to pay for their life-styles.

There is, of course, a trade off. If you desire all the expensive things in life then most will have to work hard in order to pay for them. If you are satisfied with the simpler and cheaper things in life, then the necessity for you to work so hard to pay for it fall away. Getting the balance right is a difficult thing to do.

If you wish to "plan" to achieve this, you first need to get rid of your mortgage and your loans and then examine what you do and don't need in your life. Once you know what you need, you can plan to earn the money to pay for it.

I have one question for you though - what about retirement plans and a pension?

I've read about a few people who quit their high paying jobs to less stessful, low paying ones. In this day and age, though, even if you own your house and land, and grow your own food, you still need money to pay property taxes. There's no way around it. Uncle Sam still needs to get his. Don't worry about your friends, as long as you're happy, that's all that counts.

People have a variety of reasons for wanting to earn an income or wealth. It is possible that your reasons didn't provide you with sufficient motivation anymore. Being sick will cause anyone to re-evaluate their priorities. For someone who isn't sick, their priority is not the same as you, so their choices are likely to be different.

As you age though, I hope you will be able to provide for yourself. My income also gets channeled to my retirement fund. I work today for the financial benefit tomorrow.

I believe in the expression "to each his own". What makes one individual happy, and feel good does not make another.

Every one has their own individual needs. "Needs" do not come in "ONE SIZE FITS ALL".

Kudos to you that you found "your" peace, and tranquility. I happen to agree with the life style you chose.

Bless you, and don't take to heart what your friends say. Some of them might secretly envy you. Ever think of that?

I wish it were that simple where I live.

Taxes are in place to force people who can't work or don't want to work off of their property.

It gets cold enough here that homeless people die rather quickly.

Love and blessings Don
