My grandfather died of Motor neurone Disease, he was in his 50s. This was about 20 years ago but the image of him suffering with the disease will stay with me forever. Imagine being completely unable to move any muscle in your body but being as sharp of mind as you have always been. Can you imagine how that feels? I can't but i watched him die that way. MND is incurable and is a muscle wasting disease that does not affect the brain so the sufferers know exactly what is happening to them. How undignified it must have been for him. he couldn't feed, toilet, wash or dress himself, yet he was kept alive to suffer when a simple injection could have relieved him of all his suffering. He eventually died but not before his throat closed up and he couldn't swallow or talk. Those who disagree with euthanasia in certain circumstances should try to not only put themselves in the position of the sufferer but in the shoes of the family who have to watch our loved ones suffer from this soul destroying, heart wrenching, evil disease. Not only this disease but hundreds of other terminal diseases and disabilities. LET THE SUFFERER DECIDE.

In extreme cases, yes. My mother's aunt had cancer and went into a hospice with a life expectancy of 6 weeks. She lasted 6 months, the family were called to her bedside 5 times, thinking each time that the end had come. My aunt was in constant pain, every little movement was agony for her. She just lay there day after day semi-conscious, almost blind, fed with tubes, unable to talk or do anything for herself. Why? What was the point? Why not just let her go?
Her family were wonderful with her and ensured that someone was at her bedside 12 hours a day even tho she couldn't speak to them and half the time didn't even know they were there. Obviously it was a strain on the family too and although they wouldn't admit it, it was a blessing all round when she finally slipped away in her sleep.
I believe life is precious and I used to believe that you are never given more in this life than you are able to cope with. However, advances in medical science mean we can prolong life, but at what cost? What is the point in helping someone to stay alive if that life is filled with constant pain and has no quality whatsoever. I think there comes a time when nature should be allowed to take its course. And if the dosage of painkillers needed to alleviate pain becomes fatally high, then so be it.

Yes it is. If someone had a terminal illness and were in considerable pain then it would be fair to allow them to end their life. Obviously there would be criteria to follow - you couldn't just fill a form in and have your nan done in! Doctors, family and the patient would all have to give consent.

No it is not. Why should someone be sentenced to death when they have worked most of their lives? It is time we looked after them when they get ill, not just dispose of them when they become an inconvenience

No, we cannot play God. If people are suffering that is awful but they can always have drugs to help them through. However, if I was suffering and didnt want to live, I would go off to Europe where it is legal.

If your 20, Yes
If your 60, No
Is your plan to get rid of older people so you have to pay for their care in old age?

Depends. What do you have in mind? Because in many cases, I approve of it. Including myself.

Yes. The best way to do it would be to round up all the old people, put them in work camps and work them to death. Now let's invade Poland. You twit.
