Art is a record of humanity, but not necessarily the only record of humanity. Perhaps the singularity aspect of consciousness comes to light through art and remains pretty consistent through the ages compared to other endeavors of humanity which seem to change more dramatically through time.

Not at all. For one persons art to be definitive of an era is wrong. the art is representative of the ideas of the artist and will be his interpretation. Commissioned or commemorative art may be an exception, but there will always be the influence of the artist in the work.

The object of 'art' is to convey an emotion or a relationship with someting. As such, art changes over the years to reflect contemporary social values and, seen in this light, it makes perfect sense to consider it a record of our humanity.

Yes it is because human's impressions are expressed in the art, it might be in paints or popular songs or even in cinema, so it will tell us what they're thinking about or what they feel .
