Hello, I need to make an urgent bank transfer to Italy but am unsure how to present the account details to my bank, ie SWIFT codes etc..

The account details I have been given are;

B.N.L. - Sede di Trieste - BBAN: C 01005 02200 xxxxxxxxxxxx (the x's being the account number)

Any help would be appreciated.

What you really need to wire money to an Italian account it's just the IBAN code (not BBAN) - This code is identifying the Italian bank and it includes (it seems you know this already..!) the account number of the beneficiary. The Swift code it's not strictly requested even if the more you write the better.
Just take care of the IBAN code # being 100% correct otherwise the transfer will be lost somewhere and will arrive in huge delay. However if you give yr bank the name of the Italian bank,its address and the account # they should be able to verify immediately if the IBAN you're providing them is correct or not.

All you need is the IBAN code, which you can get from the bank if you ask for it. It is possible sometimes to do the conversion and you may be able to do this if you look up "IBAN" on the web.
However, if you are making a large transfer or regular transfers, then it is better to use a specialist company to do this for you. The rates are much better than the banks' and they are more efficient.
Try "Transfer money abroad" or similar on a websearch for suitable companies and make sure that you just get the UK companies (a lot of American companies also try to do this).

My sister recently had to make a payment from the UK to Turkey, she just went to the counter and explained what she wanted to do and they took her aside and talked her through filling the form out (this was with Barclays but I would imagine it would be similar with other UK banks). If you call up customer services of your bank and tell them what details you have they will check if there is any further information that you will need. Oh, and my sister also needed extra ID (driving licence, passport).
