Can Mastercard issued in Europe be used in Cuba? I have been advised that only Visa is acceptable.?

No - either Visa or Mastercard can be used to make purchases, in hotels and restaurants, and to draw cash from banks or Cadecas.

Only Visa can be used in the ATMs.

In all cases cards issued through American banks (MBNA, HFC) cannot be used - even if issued on behalf of a European financial institution.
