Discolored fingernails can be caused by stress or diabetes. Diabetes can also cause yellowish fingernails. Yellowing fingernails may be also be caused by liver dysfunction or respiratory diseases. Brownish fingernails may signal kidney trouble.
you need to see your medical doctor as soon as possible and get an examination to make sure that you have good kidneys, liver, lungs, and do not have diabetes.
In the meantime take a good quality Multi vitamin twice daily. This should cover any mineral needs of your fingernails.

typically when your nails become dark it is a sign of anemia. Anemia is a lack of iron. In addition to that you may feel tired more than usual, and might notice some mild discoloration on your tongue. That will be not so noticable. Get some iron supplements and take them with orange juice. Vitamin C helps the body utilize iron. Watch out for calcium because it blocks the iron from being absorbed.
