How typical that the leader of a foreign country could visit the US and be on the receiving end of abuse and ridicule from a high racking US academic, without a word of protest about his treatment by Doggy Rice. The USA exhibits such arrogance, yet its people wonder why they are hated so much.
Freedom of Speech?..., more like Bush's rent a crowd getting a few extra dollars to make a scene. Hatred of the USA will only escalate, for no other reason than seeing the hypocrisy of USA democracy.
It really is the pot calling the kettle black. I can't wait for the downfall of the USA...it certainly is coming soon.

Actually there was no racist comment toward rice....idiot! and repisals will come in Iraq & Iran (start counting those body bags). Funny how there's this belief that I am 1) muslim/terrorist 2) american (god never) 3) a visa reject or 4) someone who would even want to visit your god forsaken country.
The attacks against muslims in this post represent the type of american that you want to see fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan, just to be sent home in a little comfy black sleeping bag.
Please don't speak for the rest of the world, maybe you don't get unbiased reporting in your country, but whereever your leader goes there are people always protesting about american warmongering. Pax Americana, I think not! You americans are going to hell in a handbag! And I can't wait!

And again, I must be oppressed to think that freedom of speech is only an american perogotive. A history lesson to boot. I guess if I was a country with oil you americans would show me how oppressed I was, whether I liked it or not. Can I be america's puppet too?

NB. defending one's country is admirable and right, but invading another country on unfounded accusations stinks of imperalism to me!
Obey or be conquered indeed!

Yeah our country is on the downside of the hill. we may get it back one day I dont know when,,, when people actually have to pay for the war and we go bankrupt maybe?? History is not taught to our kids.. we are taught only the good parts.. most people dont know that America deposed elected government in Iran and the guy in there now was elected .. after college kids kicked our puppet out.. in 79.. or that we paid to depose Chaves an elected president for military dictatorship,, and the people of Venezuela revolted we are brainwashed...

Wonderful analogy, calling that scumbag a leader, while his ammunition is aimed and firing at this moment , toward American soldiers. That man is a terrorist and should not have been welcomed on our soil.
And just what terrific space on this planet do you take up? To wish the downfall of another person is bad enough, but to want, hope, for the destruction of a nation? Are you that oppressed?
Read American history. We are not a democracy, that would only mean all the fools are on the same side. We are a Republic!

Ok, two different issues here. IF someone is "invited" to speak at a ceremony, they should at least be allowed to speak before the host disagrees with and chides them for their thinking/views/remarks, whatever. I think Bollinger was wrong to do it the way he did.
Yes, the Iranian President IS probably all those things and perhaps should never have been invited to speak at Columbia...however...he was.
It looks like a set up and to me it was arrogant and just plain stupid to do it the way he did.
Don't judge all Americans by some of the idiots in the news.

I didn't see Bollinger's comments, but I watched about an hour of the press conference. I wasn't too impressed with Ahmadinejan's responses. He seemed to have an excuse for everything, from censorship to locking up journalists. In a way, I admire the man for coming over here and letting our citizens ask him questions, but I don't think he's any better than any other world leader. They are all crooked....

Typical Islamic insanity.
A president of a university offers critcism and you blame the entire USA for being "arrogant". Kinda like Muslims blaming all of Denmark for the cartoons of one cartoonist.
Then you blast off a racist epthit about Condy Rice.Typcial....every Muslim I have ever got to know on a personal basis has turned out to be a huge racist.
Whats even more amazing is that, in Islamic countries, a forgeiner could never get that kinda of public media access. Iran;s lunatic midget president had the opportuinity to directly speak to Americans...if he was persuasive...what could the US Government do...right? Never ever in an Islamic country.
You dont like the result...fine...f*** you and your hideous hate cult. Believe me...the world feels the same...we are all sick to hell of you animals.

When the Iranian president was asked about the human rights abuses of some hundreds of gays executed in Iran he retorted that there are no gays in Iran.
No gays in Iran??? Well, if he had any remote tidbit of credibility in front of that crowd and Bollinger before he said that then he most certainly lost all credibility after he said it - to a chorus of "boo"s. Let the games begin!
Perhaps he just left himself open and was "asking for it". (as in "asking for it" like a half-dressed "piece of meat" woman might be asking for it in front of a crowd of hungry men, if you'll excuse my crude analogy).
EDIT - just cos we don't like him doesn't mean the US should go to war to get their oil, though, OK.

Between the two, Bollinger sounded to me the uneducated. Maybe, America has once again invented a new definition for "EDUCATED"

I think it was prudent to ask the questions that were asked by Lee Bollinger. We also took great notice that the petty dictator did not answer them, and went so far as to chide the Academic for his introduction. You wonder why Americans are so arrogant? Because we have that freedom to speak our opinion without fear of reprisal. Eats you up inside doesn't it?

lee asked some very good questions that i would have liked the iranian president to answer.
the iranian president is a dog. he terrorizes his people and blatantly lies about it.
it is the same reason why everyone hates bush.
both mr. bush and mr. ahmadenjed (or whatever) are scum.
i don't discriminate between wastes of life.
however it is important to understand why they were elected and what exactly they want for the world. that is why i am glad this speech happened.
as for bush's speeches...eh. they are more painful for different reasons.

We're so sorry that your visa application was denied. Sometimes that screening process can be annoying, but what's to be done? Maybe it had to do with the fact that visas are granted by "Doggy's" Department of State. Now that you mention it, she did spank him rather soundly, didn't she?
