Hey there.... I am bias and am positive to the internet...
For me, it has changed my life for the better since I met my hubby online in 97 and we married 2000...So family wise it was a huge positive advantage. Staying connected to family and friends since I have moved away has been a positive advantage.
Meeting new friends online is wonderful... positive advantage.
Taking care of all our finances online has improved our lifestyle tremendously.
We are able to better research a product before we actually commit to buying... thanks to the internet..a positive advantage.
We have more access to more possibilities... information.... a positive advantage.
There is a lot of people out there that are negative to the internet and are scared... That has to do I believe with attitude... a positive optimist is open to see more possibilities... a pessimist can only fear anything new and different.
The only downfall I see right now... but I am positive it will improve is that there are spammers taking advantage which wastes a lot of energy... but that is temporary disadvantage.
I am in my 50's and am updated to new technology and really look forward to seeing all the wonderful changes that will take place in my lifetime....

The answer to your question is I believe 'both'
There 1000s of reason why.
Some of the advantages are:
The Internet is a sea of knowledge, far more than an encyclopedia because information can be updated very quickly.
Many things can be done instantly on the Internet. Instant messaging and virtually instant emailing.
Again, instant messaging and emailing is free. Think of all the postage and time we save when we need to communicate with people who use the Internet.
Some disadvantages are:
1000s of unsavoury characters trying to get the us all to invest in their illegal and confidence schemes.
Attempting to get us to part with our pennies and cents with absolutely no chance of getting anything back.
There of 1000s of sites which can easily corrupt not only the very young, also the more mature user, such as porn sites.
One of the main concerns are paedophile sites.
If the Internet was or could be 'policed' better it would be a much better place to visit. Unfortunately this is virtually impossible because of the literally billions of web pages there are.
However all in all though I do feel the Internet is mainly a good thing.

internet is a very big advantage and a very big disadvantage, it is advantage in the sense that we use it for communication, browse thru websites in search of one thin or the other. it is also advantage in the sense that school boys and girls use it to download blue films and other adult websites that are not meant for them

Like every fair coin in the world Internet also has two sides.
Its and enabler in every single way.
It enables one to get in tough with people around the world to socialize. It also enables easy communication between anti-social elements.
It enables one to appreciate the the world around them. It also enables one to access information to become depressed and aggravated.
It enables freedom for constructive and destructive expression.
It enables free Democratic environment for free expression. It also enables communist and terrorist to force there agenda.
In the nutshell, its up to the user how to utilize the information and freedom provided by Internet.

yes. the internet connects everyone and news travels very quickly. you can share things like movies and music very easily and do things you could never do without internet. excessive use of the internet is bad though. spending every hour of everyday on the internet is unhealthy, and your not as connected with your friends as if you went over to their house.

Internet can be both.It depends on how it is used.
You can use it to yor advantage,to research projects and find and talk to friends, but little kids can watch porn and buy drugs...

definitely an advantage.
opens our eyes up to a lot of material we wouldnt see otherwise.
easier to get news and communicate with friends also.

its depend on how people used Internet coz every one knows what is good and what in not right so its depend on how they will use this....
