Well first of all, you should see how much school he needs to get his degree and push for that and for him to become and officer not enlisted. You are talking starting out about 2000 dollars a month more for officer over enlisted. With college they give you e-3 upon graduation of basic and e-4 is earned some time later. Also I recommend joining the Air Force, deployment cycles are shorter, which means he will spend less time in the desert and more time at home with you. IF the desert is where he wants to be, there are many Air Force jobs that will get him to the desert. regardless of what branch he joins, an E-3 gets paid the same. Its just dependant on what he wants to do for his country. I thank him for considering joining our great military, whatever branch he decides on..

Ultimately you should go talk to a recruiter.. Just you, so you can ask questions without them trying to buy your husband. The military is a good life for families. Sometimes is hard, with deployments, long hours, and lots of work.. But the benefits are the best you can ever find.. Free health care for you, your husband and if you have children, them too.. Dental care is really cheap too..

I hope that I have helped you. Have a great day..

If he has a bachelor degree no matter how many credit hours he has, he will enter at e-4. If he doesn't have a bachelor degree, with 87 ch, he will be an e-3. As long as the ch's are from an accredited college or university he will get promoted.

Nobody walks in as an E-3 or E-4. You start as an E-1 private and earn your ranks. Your college credits may be good if you do get your degree and want to go for officer grade O-1= second lieutenant. Other than that, 87 credits is worth a big zero.
