My sister in law had her first round of chemo for breast cancer last Monday. Wed, Thur and Fri she said she felt like she was in a black hole. She felt separated from her body and unable to get back to it. She had baby blues years ago but said this is the worst "depression-like" thing she has ever experienced. She has never heard of anyone else suffering like this and wonders if it might be a reaction to steroids or something. It passed after three days and she is much better this week.

my sister is doing chemo and radiation for pancreatic cancer... she felt that way when they gave her something for the radiation........ how you explained the feeling was exactly how she felt.
all we can do is to be there for them and let them cry.

best of luck to you and your sister in law.

Yes, my cousin who has been fighting breast cancer for 10 years now had that quite a few times with chemo. Its probably a reaction to one of the drugs...she needs to tell her doctor about it just in case.

my mum is currently going through chemo for breast cancer and is up to her 6th round of it. she hasnt experience that seperation feeling before but everyone reacts to the chemo differently. chemo completely stuffs up your body and your hormones go crazy so this could be a hormone problem or something isnt being sent to the brain. she should definately talk to her doctor about it because they will know the answer for sure.

I remember curling up in a ball and being amazed I could feel like this. The worst part did disappear after 3 days. I felt this extreme tiredness that I never experienced up to that time. I thought I was going to die.
