I think that they both mean the same thing.

tension is waiting for the inevitable
and sometimes hoping it goes the way you want it to

stress is having an impulse that cannot be facilitated
like with a fear - the body wants to fight or flight
but the modern person does neither
so stress results because the situation is never resolved
it just makes the Pharmaceutical Companies sell drugs

I don't know...but I think of tension like when you grit your teeth or your muscles tense up. Stress , I think, would be many things troubling you that build up...esp. in your mind...and overpower you. I think you'd go get a massage for tension and a therapist for stress. Of course, stress can cause tension. O shoot....just go get a massage anyway !!! lol
